A CRY IN THE WILDERNESS.

A voice of reason emerges from the Saratoga Springs City Democratic Committee despite the best efforts of the committee to stifle all dissent.

This letter has been making the rounds in the Saratoga Democratic community and I couldn’t agree more with the author. Mary Zlotnick is certainly making a name for herself as one of the new breed of young intelligent and enthusiastic Democrats that are offering hope to the cities party.

Hello All Democrats,
Tuesday night was brutal, but now is the time to pick ourselves up and move forward. Please be reminded that we were elected and we owe our constituents an accounting of why our candidates were not elected. Postponing this examination of the election results is irresponsible. In spite of appearances of being united, we obviously are NOT. Moving forward, the committee needs to be restructured and words of unity, openness and transparency be actualized.

This has NOT been an open and transparent team; it has been a dictatorship with myopic vision. Those who remain committed to exacting revenge have affected our ability to win elections.

Our leadership strongly opposed our candidates from seeking the Independence lines, this was a costly mistake.

Fundraising efforts were disorganized and unproductive. (Have we received a clear financial accounting?)

We were promised a united campaign for ALL of our candidates. Yet John Franck and Joanne Yepsen, our only proven successful candidates, were left off of every piece of literature.

The present leadership has made:
· costly autocratic decisions
· does not work well with others
· and has been ineffective.

Our committee members deserve inclusive and respectful treatment; instead of bullying communication. Discourse, if allowed, can create synergy with effective solutions.

As a committee and a party, our voices have been silenced. Now is the time to raise our voices, to let go of the past and move forward. With inclusion, collaboration and new leadership, we can rise to excellence.

In closing, I propose to those who want to work towards an inclusive, open and transparent Democratic Committee, STAY AND STEP UP, all others please step away.

Respectfully,

Mary Zlotnick, 2nd vice-chair

Good letter Mary. I couldn’t have said it better.

“it has been a dictatorship with myopic vision. Those who remain committed to exacting revenge have affected our ability to win elections.”

There are those in your party that still have only the previous DPW Commissioner on their targets, missing not only the whole pulse of the citizenry, but failing to understand that this City’s elected officials have to win the whole City to win the election and that means cross over voting. The party leaders of those candidates who just won this election have to take heed as well, or they will repeat what happened last Tuesday. The Democratic Party offered only three men out instead of supporting all of their candidates for office. There are no good excuses except that that inner circle was so hell-bent at change that they missed the whole objective of this election and they are the sole reason that their three were not elected.

Castigated by their own partisan colleagues for working across the table, the two successful Democratic candidates can thank working for political consensus when necessary, standing strong on issues when vital and last but not least, political incorrectness when it came to the voter in the booth who pulled for them. It was clear, that four years of fighting the system did not endear the constituency to reward one Commissioner with a new post. Tying his running mates to his coattails and providing no sense of assurance that their promises were no different than what had been stated in elections past only to have those promises dashed and directions shifted was dooming.

Be thankful, it is a two-year cycle and ultimately our elected officials will get it. They have to work together for all the people and especially now, when we have to tighten our belts.

The woman--who I do not personally know--has nailed it right on the head.

Rumor mill has it that Joanne Yepsen will put one of her choices up for nomination as city party leader.

I sure hope that Mrs Yepsen, Mr Frank and Ms Zlotnick are all working in concert together on this matter.

If so, there might be hope yet. They speak for me.

(Such a pleasant turn from the earlier post about Mr Thompson being considered as the county chair))

It should be pretty obvious what is going on here.

Ms Zlotnich is doing the dirty work for Ms Yespen as our party-hopping Supervisor makes an obvious bid to stuff the leadership posts with her own people.

The little rant was no doubt written by Ms Yepsen's own puppet master himself.

The DFC was founded on the very points Ms Zlotncikc refers, open government and transparency. Such was the overriding spirit of the nominating process and the election campaign. Ms Zlotnich just didn't like that her opinions --- and candidates --- were not voted as those representing the party as a whole. Sour grapes? Maybe.

The party will re-group and thrive, maybe without Ms Zlotncik. Maybe without Ms Yepsen, for that matter.

In the long run, those who are is RIGHT will prevail.

what's a 2nd Vice Chair?

“open government and transparency’

From the DFC give me a break. The only thing open and transparent was their open contempt for anyone who questions them. The Goldberg’s Roach’s Benton’s Kim’s and Keehn’s need to find another party to haunt.

"what's a 2nd Vice Chair?"

Well that's the little voice that drove the Demanazis crazy

How come there has not been one comment regarding the fact that Skippy will put in his Executive Assistant, Donna Buckley for Deputy Commissioner of Public Works when Pat Design retires in December? She is not the woman for the job, with no management, supervisory experience or construction related hands on work experience. What a disgrace to real working women.

The recently disenfranchised subset of the Democratic Party should sit back and take a deep breath of fresh air and chill. Instead of clawing back in death throws finding demons and scapegoats for their demise, they should analyze how their fall from imagined grace occurred. Unyielding positions and a corrosive contempt of their opposition blinded them on what became a not so novel shortsighted journey that also shadowed their opposition party four years ago. It’s a good time to honestly evaluate core values and membership and reflect on what is needed to represent not only their own logic but the more inclusive thinking of what is universally best for the whole city. After all, sanctioned thought is just another form of narrow-minded bigotry. We all know that history is full of politicians who represented one-minded fanatical bosses while at the same time, failing the very people who they should represent.

Mary be careful these are not nice people and you have pissed them off royally.I think their role models are the East German Stasi.

With our wisdom, now is the time to be non-judgmental and move on, less we learn nothing and repeat and act like those whom we disagree.

I would love to be her bodyguard! She is one of a few women that make me hot!

I'll be her bodyguard!

And I certainly commend her for the thoughtful and ACCURATE assessment of what is the root of the city party's problems:

The Cult of Val.

Until they are eliminated--as in COMPLETELY eliminated--from the party, it remains doomed.

It will be interesting to see what happens next.

I bet the Keehn'iacs are already hiding in her bushes with the video camera; just like before.

After all: that is their way of doing things.

me thinks you need to add Mary Zlotnick to the new power brokers in the city.

if the DFC hasn't assasinated her by now, that is.
