Big Deal O'Neil junior is the son of former Director of Public Works Big deal senior who once bragged "my son will never work for this shithole dept" is widely believed to be in line to replace current director of public works Billy McTygue who is being forced to retire.Scirocco who has denied this is still grateful to O'Neal who illegally dumped human waste at the compost facility and then called DEC lawyer David Keehn husband of former Mayor Val Keehn to report what he had done, falsely claiming that Tom McTygue made
him do it. With the rag the Saratogian going along for the ride the resulting firestorm all but ensured Scirocco's victory and Skippy likes to keep his friends close,which isn't to hard he doesn't have many.As far as O'Neal he was quoted as saying"its good to be king" even if only king of the rats.

Saratoga Springs DPW head raises alarm over funding cuts

SARATOGA SPRINGS — The commissioner of public works says the city will look a lot different next year if proposed budget cuts pass.
Anthony “Skip” Scirocco said Friday that he will basically have to eliminate his night crew, including part-time dispatchers in the garage and workers on staff overnight and on the weekends to take care of water and sewer emergencies, plow streets, pick up trash, collect leaves and yard waste and maintain 31 city buildings.
Without a DPW worker on staff to make sure nothing goes wrong at city-maintained fields like East Side Rec, sports teams and other organizations may not be able to have events there on weekends or in the evenings, Scirocco said.
Delivery of compost would probably have to stop, and so would tree planting.
“If this budget passes, people will see a different DPW, something they are not used to,” Scirocco said. “And it could really be a negative to the city.”
Scirocco said he had told Finance Commissioner Ken Ivins he could live with the cuts Ivins originally proposed to Scirocco’s budget but can’t run his department with $400,000 less than that initial spending plan.
Budget amendments Ivins proposed on Thursday would leave the DPW with an $8.5 million budget, down from $9.3 million originally adopted this year.
Scirocco said residents and other city officials take for granted the work that his department does. But people will miss it when workers don’t do jobs like shoveling crosswalks and city-maintained sidewalks, emptying trash cans on Broadway, sweeping downtown streets daily and picking up litter.
Deputy Commissioner Pat Design said officials are even thinking about not planting flowers on Broadway and Union Avenue next year.
Ivins said the cuts include ones that Scirocco himself suggested, plus a readjustment of spending for salt and sand to a more realistic number.
“He was willing to cut some administrative positions to make room for other things,” Ivins said.
The two men plan to meet to discuss the budget again on Monday before the 6 p.m. City Council meeting, at which Ivins has said he expects a vote.
With no dispatchers after 11 p.m. or on the weekends, city residents and the police will have no one to call if there’s a water main break, a sewer backup, a dead animal to be removed or numerous other problems that occur, Design said.
Scirocco said the dispatchers also keep an eye on a panel box that monitors the sewer pump stations: “You could have raw sewage running down the road, and nobody would know about it.”
Scirrocco disgusts me. Spending our money. Promoting idiots into positions they can't handle. No wonder McTygue wants out. I predict this department will collapse and this city will suffer with the lack of services that will decrease because of poor leadership.

They try to arrest a pastor for handing out food to the needy while protecting a sex offender. What's next? Arresting senior citizens for J walking. Scirroco is already blaming Ivins and Johnson for his dept. woes. The excuses of city services will suffer are being pointed at everyone but Skippy. Sorry Skip to the lou! It's time to step or get the hell out! If you can't run with the big dogs then stay on the porch! At least McTygue got things done! It's too bad he wasn't in office. He could handle this crisis as well as anyone.
Well put Filthy Phil, Scirroco blames anyone but himself.The charter says if a commissioner is unable or unwilling to perform his duties it falls to the Mayor to replace him and it just might come to that.
