Leave it to Ron Kim to pull one last stunt and build up the hopes of these young officers to try to save his faltering career.Insiders say he is so delusional to think he can challenge Tedisco for his assembly seat.
Only the delusional self-serving narcissistic egomaniac Commissioner, who ignored the public for four years first performing as a lapdog for his inept mayor and then trumpeting public safety extravagance -- at one point publicly waging his career on the success of the now failed bloated building campaign, can expect a receptive audience tonight when he unveils ‘his plan’ to save police jobs. Where has this autocrat been for the past year when constructive teamwork could have benefited the City? Today’s planned theatrics, most likely the last in his play, can only add to the myriad of hallucinations befitting a distracted man, whose only charge had once been to simply serve the people who elected him to office.
This moving of line items in the budget is unacceptable. All moves need council approval and who determines what is revenue neutral? How about the use of this money to be moved to lower the 7.8% tax rate? Why not lower taxes is you have found the money that is not needed as originally intended?. Thank you Mr. Kim for highlighting this. The city Council needs to act to lower taxes.
Police force retirements expected December 1, 2009 at 7:14 am by Dennis Yusko
A handful of highly-ranked members of the Saratoga Springs Police Department are expected to announce their retirements as soon as today and may do so at tonight’s City Council meeting, a source with knowledge of the situation tells me. The retirements are being done to save the jobs of younger members who face the axe as part of the city’s 2010 budget cuts. The department faces the elimination of seven police officer jobs and one investigator, or more than 10 percent of the total force. The mounted police force also is being scratched. The fire department is losing seven firefighters, or nearly 20 percent of its force. The cuts had to be made to balance a budget that faced severe loss of revenues.
One can only hope one of the names will be mouth Moore. Regardless expect long winded self promoting speeches of sacrifice and bravery as they float away on their golden parachutes.
How is it that there was no money to be found within the Department's budgets to avert these layoffs before they became a reality, and suddenly there are cuts that can be made that will save 3 to 4 jobs?! Before it was simply "we must raise taxes further" and now it is "we can shift funds between line items.Politics
Great call on the press conference John. Do you think that they will mention their new police digs at Jefferson Terrace? They have a substation at Stonequist Apartments stocked with computers and flat screen TV's free of charge. They have another office at The William Ford Neighborhood Center. THose both just happen to set up right next to where the Sex offender has set up shop at both sites for his so-called fitness training. Now the Authority is building yet another substation at the Terraces free of charge(or should I say on the taxpaying fools like us) so the fuzz can play on the big screen TV's and computers there for their hideout. This is our tax dollars hard at work.

So now the tu reports a bunch of cops are going to retire. They will do anything not to take a reduction of salary or benefits.

Be careful what you say about Chief Moore. The last someone hurt his feeling it cost the city $60000.

The Ghost of past commissioners says:
Let the Chief retire. He can replace the other retired chief who got canned at the Racino.
Let anyone retire who wants to retire.
Then layoff the ones who were supposed to get laid off.
Who says that if someone retires, he/she must be replaced?
God I hate being always right
SARATOGA SPRINGS — The Department of Public Safety has called for an afternoon press conference today at 4.
The ghost of past commissioners says:
He saw your blog about the press conf.
He's not smart enough to come up with ideas on his own.
30 more days, and counting, he's gone.
