DID SOMEBODY SAY PARTY?

Wednesdays night’s meeting at the usually placid Mechanicvile Italian-American club of the County Democratic Party Committee is shaping up to be a knock down drag out fight for Larry Bulman, leader of Saratoga County Democrats as he tires to hang on to his position. Bulman whose day job is business agent for Local 773 of the United Association of Plumbers and Steamfitters has come under blistering criticism after his close business ties with convicted former Senate majority leader Joe Bruno became clear as Bulman testified in open court in Bruno’s corruption trial in federal court in Albany as a witness for the prosecution. Many had questioned in the past why Bulman and his committee had never run a serious challenger against the popular Bruno and his testimony make it clear that Bruno’s sponsored construction projects for his Union members meant no credible threat to Bruno come Election Day from the Democrats. This revelation along with the beating that the DFC sponsored Democratic candidates took in Saratoga Springs that made the Saratoga Dems the laughing stock of the State have seriously weakened Bulman’s standing with the committee. Personally I think Bulman is getting a bad rap with the Bruno revelation. Anybody who could think with their own brain and wasn’t a progressive Zombie could see that Uncle Joe, Republican or not was good for the County and the fact that Bulman could use him to supply well paying union construction jobs for his members just made good business sense. Bulman understood that no candidate stood a chance against the always popular Bruno so why waste money and resources on an unwinnable campaign and poke a stick in the eye of one of your major benefactors.
Where I do have a bone to pick with Bulman is the back stabbing waffling support he gave to the sane wing of The Saratoga Democrats. First he supported them but when he felt the wind blow in the other direction he supported the Keehn\Kim wing of the DFC. I never did know if the man was talking out of his mouth, his ass or both at the same time. I found the boyish Bulman to be one of the slimmest politicians I have ever met. So what did he get for his incurable indecisiveness that caused so much turmoil in his local Dems, nothing but failure. When the DFC proved they could muster 1000 hard core believers on primary day Bulman threw in the towel, throwing his support to the nutjobs who promptly drove the party into the ground. Well done Larry. Sorry Larry but your reign ends Wednesday night. YOU WILL BE REMOVED.
Meanwhile back at the local Zoo called the Saratoga Springs Democratic Committee where they never miss an opportunity to shoot themselves in the foot.
They are calling a meeting for Saturday morning at 9 at the local Library where a move will be made to replace the highly incompetent committee's chairman, Al Turkheimer. Turk was ring master when the tent fell down in the last election that saw the greatest setback to city Dems in twenty years as hordes of Democratic votes fled the collapsing circus tent to throw their support to the more reasonable Republican candidates. Many former Democratic Committee members openly campaigned for Republicans candidates throwing aside party loyalty to do what was best for the city. But don’t count the hard core DFCers out; they plan to call for party purity to their progressive ideals which they feel is a more worthy goal then winning elections. Kim and his supporters plan to run their own candidate for chairmanship and a rumor has been spreading that Scirocco will formally switch parties at the meeting and declare he is officially a Dem something he has unofficially been for many years. So their you have it folks, will the moderates led by Franck and Yepsen regain the Democratic Party or do the lunatic fringe retain control .I know who Jasper Nolan’s rooting for.

You are missing the REAL story here. Union leaders gave their pension fund business to Bruno's private company. In return, they accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars of state grant money. Our local Saratoga Union leader, Local 733, Larry Bulman, is ALSO the Saratoga Democratic Committee Chair. Conflict of Interest????? It appears that Larry also helped Bruno run unopposed a couple of times with the help of a local Dem lawyer.

Could it be that this Union leader was more interested in lining his Union brothers' pockets with money rather than put Dem officials in office?

Bulman should have been on trial not Bruno but he was granted immunity for testifying against Bruno. In my world we call that a RAT.

And Ron KIM wants to now lead the democratic party? What the fuck is below the bottom?

Good post although most people don’t give a shit about these committees this sheds a little light how we keep having scumbags such as Kim and Keehn constantly running for major offices such as mayor.

Saw that one coming said...

Bulman publicly said
"In no way, shape or form am I resigning."

So let the games begin.

Snowballs at 7:30?

Looking forward to spitting on the DFC Saturday said...

Who's going to the city Democrats' meeting Saturday? It's open door to all Dem's, I think.

Round Two of the 'Dustup at the Inn' maybe?

Will Yepsen and Franck get their guy in as city party chief, tossing Turkheiner out the door?

Will the DFC nuts get Ronnie Kim (I'm baaaaack) in as party chief, tossing Turkheimer out the door?

What about Mary (Cry from the Wilderness) Zlotnick; she raised the bar on this--will she rise to party chief, tossing Turkheimer out the door?

Will Skippy be welcomed into the party with opne arms by the DFC, or will the Yepsen-Frank people succeed in having him tosssed into the nearest snowbank?

Will Val Keehn comprehend anything that is going on around her?

Will Eileen break the chair she is sitting in?

Will Billy McTygue burst a seam from laughing so hard?

All we DO know this much: it won't be a fun day for Al Turkheimer!
