Public safety not to be outdone by Public Works has released its new holiday card which calls on city residents to sacrifice for the good of there community till it kills them. Some have questioned the wisdom of this approach seeing that it will leave most of our tax base dead and seemingly unable to pay next years taxes, but soon to be appointed Chief, Assistant Chief John Betor put it all in perspective, in an article on the front page of the local fish wrap the Saratogian penned by Kim lapdog and Public Relations spokesperson Andrew Bernstein. Betor wrote “See if these cuts go through most city residents will be burnt to death in their homes and the survivors of this upcoming firestorm unable to find fire insurance for their blackened homes will be forced to wander aimlessly on the wild plains of Ohio or something like that.” Betor as always came prepared with graphs, statistics, coloring books and a 10,000 page report that no human being has ever read.

Kim had his own holiday greeting to the voters of Saratoga “ there you have it folks you voted me out of office and now your all doomed, Merry Christmas.”
Disclaimer. To the brainless members of the DFC before you call and get Attorney general Andrew Como out of bed this Sunday morning. This is a parody of an actual article in the paper written by a Kim lackey that I am ridiculing.

What Betor did was fear mongering and yes HE WILL BE THE NEW CHIEF. Kim worked that out before Cogan announced his retirement. Betor states Insurance rates might go up. “MIGHT” and when he is Chief he will do all within his powers to see that they do just to teach us a lesson. Bernstein on the other hand is feeding this fear mongering frenzy in what he call a “news story” and anyone who dares criticize him will be banned from commenting on their sight.
Betor is the driving force behind the whole grand scheme for the Fire Department to take over SEMS and add 12 fireman and build a new East side substation out at the lake. That is why the Fireman’s union agreed to the cuts in starting pay for new fireman to soften the initial blow from this sudden growth to the Dept. Cole was a good choice for Police Chief but Betor will politicizes the Fire Dept to a level that as never been seen, and in a couple of years when the public has had enough of him and the city residents put a referendum on the ballot much like charter change to disband the Fire dept the blame will fall on the soon to be named CHIEF BETOR the last Chief of the professional fire dept of Saratoga Spring.
Did you see the funny letter from Beth Braxton, in the paper today damming us for supporting layoffs? This is the same fruitcake who makes a living teaching something called Hypnobabies a self-hypnosis techniques. What the fuck is this? I can’t believe the shit you can get away with in this town and then call yourself a businesswomen. A fool and his money. I bet she gets a new clinic when NIXIVM reopens the Adelphi in the spring.
I have no idea what Betor is talking about. I sold my house on East Ave brought a bigger house that cost more money in Wilton and my Insurance went down not only my house but my car and did I mention I pay no town tax. Want to know the kicker? I got a city cop living down the street.

Try this jingle:
For Betor or Worse.....or to paraphrase it
For Betor or Dejoskna (the guy who shut down the West Ave fire station back in the 80s).
Don't forget for a minute, he is a rabble rouser to the enth degree. He is still a Captain (a Chief wannabee) making a cool $100,000, a 207-a professional for years.
He's waiting in the wings, and he will strike at a moment's notice.
Don't say I didn't warn you.
Well folks you only have to wait 25 more days until Samcro comes to downtown Saratoga. With the cut back of law enforcement we will take control of Togatown and enforce our own laws that will be for the better. See you soon!
No I’m afraid this deal was done before Cogan even announced his intention to resign. A back room deal. And remember folks that guy or gal setting next to you or in the office down the hall. You know the one who always says “they never read all the bullshit on those nasty blogs” is the same one e-mailing me information.

Your blog is #1, but cool your jets for a bit. We need time to comment before you post a new one.
Most people only comment on the current blog, not the older ones, and some of the older ones have some excellent comments.
Just a suggestion, keep on keepin on.
It's your blog, you're the boss.
You are correct past commissioner, but every time I pick up the paper I read more dribble from Bernstein it makes my head explode metaphorically speaking.
Although many people would like to see that happen in reality
Here’s a fresh idea, Outlaw first cousin marriage among the city workers. Is it true that the entire police and fire dept share at least one grandparent? Why can’t you bring in an outsider or does the PBA and the Fireman’s contract say the Chiefs must come from the proper family tree?
"So let it be written. So let it be done."
The book of Kim.
I’m the Ben nobody in the family likes to talk about
Yea I hear ya, But I won't rub it in.
I think the layoffs are a good thing. Maybe this summer I could sit outside at a sidewalk cafĂ© and not have to sit through million dollar ladder trucks careen down Broadway hell bent on beating the Emergency Corp to the latest 5mph crash in Geyser crest. And am I mistaken didn’t the Fire Dept kill some people that led to a million dollar payout that the city is still making today going on one of these bullshit calls.
11:29 PM makes a good point.
Regardless of whether it was wise for the department planners to have projected “assumed growth” using the usual phrase word of “building infrastructure”, it went forward with first buying an uninsurable ambulance and then proceeded to recruit, employ and train 12 new lifetime employees with the plan to eventually replace the functionally reliable SEMS as an emergency services provider – even though the proposed service would grow to become a much larger tax burden for residents than contracted services.
Additionally, the future acquisition of land, the planning and building of a new fire station complete with personnel, equipment and maintenance follows the same recipe that resulted in the predicament now experienced by our police in their facility that has its supporters blaming the taxpayer for its own design by incompetence.
Since the usual model of “growth at all costs” is being challenged, this spokesman, who shares the architect-role of this department growth and services takeover, now threatens that the results could prove disastrous. I guess, suggesting slow response times, inadequate coverage, higher insurance costs partnered with the complementary fear mongering from PS that “crime is at the door steps” is to be expected, because we won’t imagine a more conservatively effective and efficient use of resources? Because these generally conservative departments have been cheered on to think and spend liberally, it is no surprise that when the community questions the notion that there just may be an optimum more efficient operating size for each department to sufficiently perform their duties, that negotiations become contentious. It’s being presented as almost un-American or certainly, un-Union but because the public has to bear the brunt of the costs, it’s about time that they finally demand more responsible management from our elected officials and more efficiency from our public service employees.
The personnel layoffs are not personal -- they are in fact, a result of unrestrained overly optimistic empire building that today is being assessed. Who knows, maybe the Unions will see beyond their “Rat approach” and make the concessions that could keep more personnel employed during the deflationary period, thus sharing the pain with those who have to pay for services?
Betor spends very little time being a fireman, most of his day is spent hunkered down in his office generating reports to justify the continuing existence of his Dept.I would suggest if he has time for that then they are overstaffed or at the least they are to brass heavy
It's nothing new (11:04 AM). The Asst Chiefs of BOTH departments are fluff jobs. There is nothing for them to do that a staff member of PS Dept couldn't do -- with ease.
Don't forget, these top brass guys also give advice to fellow troops on how to fake an injury.
"Brass heavy", you bet.
Take the day shift for example:
PD has Chief, Asst. Chief, Captain, Three lieutenants, three sergeants, three to four investigators, not counting the patrols.
Auto heavy? Count the cars on Maple Ave at any given time.
My rear end hurts.
Anyone know how come?
"living in Wilton....and LOVING it?"
You must be one brain dead m-f'er.
