In a great article today in The Schenectady Gazette ace reporter Tatiana Zarnowski nailed down Thilo Ullmann the new chairman of the Saratoga Democratic Committee to try to explain the sudden and unexpected resignation of Al Turkheimer as Committee chair. In a series of lies that can only be described as breathtaking in there depravity and scope Ullman said;
“We tried to persuade him to stay {Turkheimer}, and he was adamant that he didn’t want to do it anymore.”
He went on to say;
“I’m terribly sorry that Al resigned,” Ullmann said. “I think he was a very effective chair.
I really don’t know were Fidel Ullman can find the Chutzpah to lie in such a blatant manner. Everyone including Tatiana has read the explosive e-mails of behind the scenes back stabbing.
Then in the state of the city rebuttal you again had the Chutzpah to complain that the Republicans weren’t open enough for you. GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!!!!

SARATOGA SPRINGS — City Democratic Chairman Allan Turkheimer has resigned, he confirmed Thursday.
Turkheimer stepped down Monday from the committee after serving as chairman for 16 months, during which the so-called Democrats for Change faction of the ailing party secured committee control but then failed to deliver any wins in contests for city offices last year.
Turkheimer declined to comment on his resignation, but it is well known that he stepped down amid a behind-the-scenes eruption of members of his own faction.
In a flurry of accusatory e-mails that were quickly forwarded far beyond their intended recipients earlier this week, some committee members blamed him for the party’s losses in November and others took his side.
Acting Chairman Thilo Ullmann said Thursday that Turkheimer was tired after the November election. The only remaining party members in city offices after that GOP victory are Judge Jeffrey Wait, Supervisor Joanne Yepsen and Accounts Commissioner John Franck.
“I’m terribly sorry that Al resigned,” Ullmann said. “I think he was a very effective chair.
“He said that he couldn’t go on without some confirmation. We tried to persuade him to stay, and he was adamant that he didn’t want to do it anymore.”
Turkheimer was active in the Democratic Party in Westchester and Essex counties before he moved to the city more than three years ago.
Ullmann, a native of Spain, is heading up the committee until a permanent replacement is named.
“We haven’t decided yet what’s going to happen,” he said. “I think, of course, it would be a good idea to have the opinion of the committee before proceeding much farther.”
If he does move up, second Vice Chairwoman Mary Zlotnick would presumably become the first vice chairwoman, second in command after Ullmann.
Ullmann was active in progressive political movements in his native Madrid, according to his biography on the Democrats for Change Web site.
He moved to the United States in 1986 and has lived in Saratoga Springs since 1997.
The eight-year U.S. citizen is married to Skidmore College English professor Linda Simon.
The next committee meeting is scheduled for late February, but Ullmann said an earlier one may be set.
Before focusing on winning back City Council seats from the GOP in 2011, the Democrats will campaign for Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and U.S. Rep. Scott Murphy, D-Glens Falls, who are running for re-election this year.
The party also must quickly line up committee candidates who are willing to run for election in September and work on the committee, Ullmann said.
“It’s going to be very, very busy,” he said.
The committee has 50 members, two from each voting district in the city.
In 2008, the Democrats for Change faction of the fractured party swept the committee seats in the first organized effort to take control of the Democratic Party in years.
Some of the Democrats deposed after the other side’s victory joined the Independence Party, some have worked with the Working Families Party and others have worked quietly behind the scenes. They may try to make a comeback this year.
The city has 6,115 active registered Democrats — about 33 percent of the registered voters.

The real stoy is that Al Turk was accoasted by Vl Keeh, Eileen Finneran and nancy Goldberg at a meeting at Charlie Brown's house. no one knew the agenda, Al walked out having been brow beat by these three women. The problem for Kim/Keehn, Thilo will not resign, and mary Zlotnick who was a Keehniac has come to the conclusion that cutting the deck again only diminishes the Democrats. Again, the democratic spokesman in today's newspaper challenging the Mayor's speech mentions the Comprehensive Plan Review that was the previous mayor’s job to get through. Sitting on it like there were hundreds of tomorrows, she had a majority Council and more importantly, the votes to pass it, but somehow, she simply forgot to get it done … so much to do -- so little time to do it.... much like everything else during her tenure.
Sad thing for Saratoga Springs, it was a good document – worked hard for and diligently by members of both parties. No, it was probably the best revision in decades, because of the underlying passion by its partisan membership to react to the experiences of the past and realize their responsibility for the future and importantly - find consensus.
So blame that mayor who today oddly writes about “the core” adding superfluously, “Let me start by saying, that, while there has been some inner damage, the building has not yet collapsed, and the core of it is still very much worth saving and, at the core are our collective democratic principles and values, and our desire to work for the betterment of the whole” … for failing to concisely, get to the charge of all of her squandered tasks.
I found it very strange that the Saratogian re-ran the Democratic response to the State of the City address again.This time minus Thilo Ullmann's signature. Could the Spaniards 15 minutes of fame be up? Only time will tell. But mass graves for Democratic committee people could be on the horizon.
