Well I see you must have a full time employee just to monitor my blog. That seems awfully strange when you local webmaster Stephen Shoemaker wrote.
“Well, let's be fair: We in the office here at 20 Lake Ave. are all wearing multiple hats and tending to many things at any given time. Those of use who are less-prolific bloggers than our former city reporter (now sports editor) don't check for new blog comments on a regular basis -- myself included.

So let me get this straight ,you are to busy to monitor your blogs on a regular basis’s at the local Saratogian but someone down at corporate headquarters has nothing to do, but lurk on my blog all day?

Now I don’t pretend to know the newspaper business but I do know that Journal Register Company Filed for Chapter 11 on 21 February 2009 you listed $596 million in assets as of Nov. 30 and $692 million in debt, including unpaid interest. You also reported that revenue has fallen more than 20 percent since 2006.
I have noticed a serious decline in your classified ads.

JRC’s share price has fallen by 99% from a high of $21.84 in 2004 to $0.265 New York Stock Exchange before it was delisted on Wednesday, April 16, 2008.I see you are now a penny stock listed as JOURNAL REGISTER CO (Other OTC: JRCO.PK) at 0.0150. So why would a company in so much fiscal trouble spend so much time on my blog? Frankly I have no idea? Well here’s a proposal for you BUY ME. Hell you’ve got a long tradition of making bad fiscal choices why not make one more. Think about it, for a few bucks you free up one employee at HQ. You know the guy who stares at my blog all day. Then you can shut it down or keep it going as a mouth piece of the DFC. Anyway sent all offers to our corporate Headquarters at

The Saratogian Circulation must be in a world of hurt. Barbara Lombardo herself called me up to offer the paper for 50 bucks for six weeks. I canceled my paper after 20 years a little over six months ago because it had gone from crappy to out and out unreadable. A sorry Barb 50 buck is still too much. Maybe if you would spend some time and resources in writing a couple decent stories now and then instead of wasting my time bothering me at home you wouldn’t have to give it away.

The truly scary thing about this is Barbara Lombardo has been an adjunct Lecturer at The State University at Albany since 2008.
I think her lecture is called
The Daily Print Newspaper: A Dying Breed

Lombardo teaches something, what how to fuck up a newspaper?

Is Andrew Bernstein still with the Saratogian ? I don't see his pix on the Editorial lineup on page three.....

Bernstein has now taken to fucking up the saratogian sports section, which was the last decent part of that newspaper. you can already notice the dropoff in that section's ability to be competant with that hack running the show. he was crying so much about what people were saying on blogs that he begged out of city beat. what a pussy

Newspaper Business is a tough industry to be in, so unless one has the right resources and competitive staffing especially it's marketing side, it's bound to fail.

Excellent post! I think you've encapsulated the mission of this blog and our challenge.
