A type of buffer between the needs of the factory owners to maximize profits against the workers rights to a living wage. Some unions today still carry out that role. 1199seiu is a good example in there struggles to unionize service workers and then there is CSEA. This is a place where thieves and pimps run free, using enforced employee contributions to provide vacations, trips and cars for “UNION business” this along with a commitment to political activity in recent elections that saw there boss Commissioner of Public Works Skip Scirocco win reelection. A boss who just threw the laborers of his department under the bus in favor of confidential non-union office staff. A boss whose campaign manager was none other than President of local CSEA before he stepped down Joe "Big Deal"O'Neal”

My conversation with the Mayor yesterday confirms my belief he is doing a good job. I am one of the fortunate to keep my job while many have been laid off. Mayor Johnson is trying hard to get contracts resolved without media attention. I made the right choice when I voted for him.

Speaking of Tuesday's Council Meeting...why did it take a laid off DPW laborer to speak on behalf of the DPW workforce?? Where was the CSEA Union? Where was Jr. O'Neil and all the union goons from Albany?
Some people have spoken of a division in the Republican Party. Well that division would seem to be between Anthony “Skip” Scirocco and the rest of the Republican Party. Sippy has been a republican in name only since he lost the race for supervisor in which he than make a pact with the crazies of the now disgraced DFC wing of the Democratic Party. Many of the old school Republicans like Jasper Nolan had a hard time comprehending this. After all they had nurtured and protected Scirocco his entire life. Many wondered if the person they had been friends with was really nothing but a scumbag and an opportunist whose loyalties could be bought for the price of an election. But the Old Republicans blinders are off now. They want Scirocco blood. He thinks he had problems with McT’s people, wait till Murphy and the feds are done with Skippy and his political racketeering along with union embezzlement McT is the least of his concerns.

I think it was Larry Baldwin who tried to shame Scirocco in the public comment period at the City Council meeting into doing the right thing.The only problem is Scirocco has no shame.

The CSEA has turned out to be a big fraud. And just think, we turned our back on Tom McTygue who served Saratoga Springs with integrity for decades...CSEA should kiss his ass to come back and take control of a department that's clearly in decline.
Your right Ben it was Larry Baldwin hes' got alot of courage and he knows what's going on in that snake pit,scirocco is like his loser son couldn't careless about the working man,just look what he did to Frank Barrone,Frank might have been sleeping.. but for that one moment he was doing more than anyone else in the dept.Skip is done,he's starting to make to many little mistakes,he's had a good run,hes' fooled alot people he should step down before this whole thing opens up and then Ka-Boom.
March is only 9 weeks away - and the expected revenue from the parking (during the winter months) will leave a shortfall and another envelope full of slips. By that time, the union official fraud will be news and the union's negotiating power will be meaningless.
