HOW DARE THEY!

Now our overpaid boneheaded State leaders are floating the idea of closing State Parks, including the gem of the State Park System beautiful Victoria Pool in our own Saratoga State Park. And you wonder why I call this blog Saratoga in Decline. Now let’s see you think you can save money by closing one of the busiest and most expensive attractions in the State Park System by closing it and laying off a few part time kids?

You’ve got to be joking right?

Here’s an idea I bet you never thought of.

Lay off some of the bloated administrators and other overpaid employees who make up 80 percent of the State Park budget.

Saratoga/Capital District Region State Parks had 147 employees in 2008.Of that number 37 made over $50000 in 2008.I’m sure the number was much higher in 2009.

Here is the list of shame.

Albert, John Annual $68,878

Ball, Alane Annual $91,096

Burch, Wanda Annual $72,123

Caruso, Peter Annual $$65,617

Cassidy Sr, Kevin Annual $72,423

Conklin, Thomas Annual $69,132

Dialberto, Allen Annual $65,264

Fallon, Christophe Annual $71,598

Fontanella, Janice Annual $70,608

Gomes, Jorge Annual $56,521

Greenslade, Michael Annual $74,820

Grimaldi, Mary Ellen Annual $50,643

Henzel, Philip Annual $62,589

Hill, Heidi Annual $66,831

Horne, Anita Annual $70,607

Hughes, Thomas Annual $72,301

Iskenderian, Peter Annual $58,158

Jepson, Catherine Annual $62,934

Keenan Jr, Lawrence Annual $78,821

Kress, Kurt Annual $96,843

Kuhn, Robert Annual $94,373

Lavarge, Donald Annual $74,456

Mastrianni, Elizabeth Annual $67,362

McGreevy, Jeffrey Annual $55,894

Monahan, Patrick Annual $53,037

More, Christopher Annual $71,555

Penge, Jason Annual $69,458

Perez, John Annual $67,438

Polsinelli, Michael Annual $53,037

Rivenburgh, Steven Annual $77,454

Rogers, Darlene Annual $57,655

Sadousky, Jack Annual $94,967

Sicko, Joseph Annual $69,949

Taylor, Robert Annual $69,333

Want to save some real money? Lay off some of these overpaid paper pushers and get back to running the Parks. Skip the consultants, the five year strategic plans, get off your ass and mow the fucking grass you morons. Your job is to keep the Parks OPEN as much has possible. You can’t do that from behind a 5000 dollar desk in a marble office in Lincoln Baths. Fire the Park Police, who do nothing for 9 months out of the year. Contract it out to Part Time Private Security. Hell you could save enough money to even make a few improvements.

CAN’T HANDLE IT

RESIGN

People are fed up with this State. Everyday civilian workers are being asked to pay more and take less. Time for you to do more for less. The disparity in incomes are growing daily .Something has to give and it won’t be us

Powerful, timely, factual and well-researched. Something far beyond the tripe soon to come from your local bloggers and their dog-and-pony banal theatrics. You're exceedingly kind in allowing them to play in your yard.

What matters far more to me and the future of this community is the concept of "Public Service" in these troubled financial times. And I'm asking you to Step Up--

Would YOU and HORATIO please find a mutually convenient time to schedule an Educational Seminar for Barbara Lombardo and the Senior Staff of the Saratogian? Explain to her the difference between a meaningful investigation and a puff piece.

You could teach her a good deal. And our community would be far greater for it.

From here in the Blowhard Bleachers, I thank you for moving far beyond DPW foolishness and into the true realm of public work.

"How about that Paid Parking RFP?"

Without those "overpaid" admistrators how will the rednecks who work in the park know what to do? They need these people to manage the employees and tell them exactly what to do. The superviors are needed and keep everything on the ball.

NOW HEAR THIS:

Ball, Alane Annual $91,096:

NO ONE WOULD CHALLENGE YOUR DECISION TO MOVE UP TO A MORE LUCRITIVE AND SECURE STATE JOB BUT NOW, PLAYING THE GOVERNMENT CARD THAT PAYS LITTLE ATTENTION TO THE SERVICES REQUIRED AND MORE ATTENTION TO THE BENEFITS RECEIVED IS NOT GOING TO FLOAT BY SO EASILY.

WE WATCH STATE DOT MONEY THAT WAS TO HAVE BEEN SET ASIDE FOR ROAD AND INFRASTRUCTURE MAINTENANCE GET PIDDLED AWAY TO FIND OUR BRIDGES AND ROADS IN A SAD CONDITION – THE MONIES SPENT AND THE ADMINISTRATORS OF YESTERDAY SUCCESSFULLY GETTING OUT BEFORE THE BRIDGES FALL DOWN ON THEIR WATCH.

TODAY WE READ A SIMILAR SCENARIO ABOUT DEFERRED MAINTENANCE ON BLEACHERS THAT QUITE HONESTLY WAS A SELF-FULFILLING PROPHESY COMING HOME TO ROOST. “SOME DAY WE’LL HAVE TO REPLACE THEM, BUT HOPEFULLY NOT ON MY WATCH – NO POINT IN TAKING CARE OF THEM ALL ALONG” DO WE DO THAT WITH OUR HOMES?

PARK MAINTENANCE & CLOSINGS ARE OVERRIDEN BY ADDING TO THE EMPLOYEE ROSTER? REMEMBER YOUR OPEN SPACE (AND MIND) ROOTS ALANE AND FIGHT THAT FIGHT FOR THE PEOPLE YOU NOW SERVE & WHO HELP PAY FOR YOUR SALARY. DON’T RESORT TO THE ‘KILLING THE SPORTS PROGRAM’ NONSENSE IN LEIU OF PAYING OUT SO-CALLED GUARANTEED BENEFIT PACKAGES.

REDUCE THE STAFF - THEIR HOURS –THEIR SALARIES - OR THEIR JOBS.

WHO NEEDS A PARK SERVICE IF THERE ARE NO SERVICES?

These workers jobs exist to serve the Park system. The Park system does not exist to serve them. Before one hour is cut from the Parks to save money these fat administrators position should be eliminated forever it is time that the Parks department stopped being a dumping ground for incompetent but politically connected scumbags who happen to need a job.

Bunch of thieving BASTARDS said...

They are STEALING THE MONEY. That POOL charges 8 bucks a head. On any given day they do at least 200 people.
200x8=$1600.
You have 2 workers at 10 an hour =$160
Two life guards at 15 an hour=$480
Labor =$640
That leaves $960 to cover all other operating costs.
This doesn’t include the amount the Gideon hotel pays to subsidies the pool or how much the restaurant pays in contractual fees to serve food and the lucrative drink business it has. Remember 200 people is a low ball figure many days they do up to 400 with turnovers. They should close on rainy days instead of allowing the staff to play cards.
Someone is lying to you or stealing profits ,that pool makes money.

Check out the Park Police wages...........unbelievable. 95K to be a policeman?

If they say it most be true said...

The Park administrators will tell you the pool loses money. Then if you ask them to prove it they will give you a shy smile, pat you on the head, retreat to their office for noon cocktails ,then they will wake up one of the five dozing Park policeman[they have been asleep since Christmas}to drag you and your impertinent question away.

Reply to the Impertinent Question

What is a sans-culotte you rogues? He is someone who always goes on foot, who has no millions as you would all like to have, no chateaux. No valets to serve him, and who lives simply with his wife and children, if he has any, on a fourth or fifth story.
He is useful, because he knows how to work in the field, to forge iron, to use a saw, to use a file, to roof a house, to make shoes, and to shed his last drop of blood for the safety of the Republic.
And because he works, you are sure not to meet his person in the Café de Chartres, or in the gaming house where others conspire and game, nor at the National theatre . . . nor in the literary clubs. . . .
In the evening he goes to his section, not powdered or perfumed, or smartly booted in the hope of catching the eye of the citizenesses in the galleries, but ready to support good proposals with all his might, and to crush those which come from the abominable faction of politicians.
Finally, a sans-culottes always has his sabre sharp, to cut off the ears of all enemies of the Revolution; sometimes he even goes out with his pike, but at the first sound of the drum he is ready to leave for the Vendée, for the army of the Alps or to the army of the North. . . .
The REVOLUTION WILL BEGIN IN A HALF HOUR

Thanks, John. Great research. They also want to close Thatcher Park. The pool there has been closed for years. The park, itself, is a real treasure.

I missed one Sorry

Daniel Keefe, who made $71,121 in 2008 is the Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation spokesperson.
Cutting this mouth piece Keefe would be a good place to start saving some money

Yeah it would be great if we could cut all of the useless, overpaid stiffs on the tax-payers tit but they are protected by PEF, CSEA and NSUT. The part-time kids who actually do the work are not.
I have given up on voting. The system is broken and it doesn't matter who you vote for or drive out of office. The same old shit continues. I will move to another state and get away from these crippling taxes and utility bills as soon as I can save up enough for the move.

Anonymous said...

Who cares? The state is 8 to 12 BILLION dollars in the hole. Close them all for all and try to bail out the asses in Albany? No way! If budget cuts brought the deficit to zero The dems in state government would just piss it away and we'd be back here. A new legislature and bankruptcy is the answer. It might keep Kim busy for a while and out of our hair.

The parks aren't going to disappear and looking at the buildings at the Spa Park, a couple of years of deferred maintenance wouldn't make any difference. They have been ignored for years.

Cult hunter said...

They start with the State Park then they close the Race track. This is all part of a NXIVM plan to destroy than take over the city. Kim\Keehn and the DFCers are all behind it along with their twisted plans for Charter reform.

thank you for posting the salaries. I am not
surprised that they of course are overpaid.
Well done.

A nice move to have Julie Stokes (Alane old boss) put her into the State Park system and Saratoga P.L.A.N.'s adgenda. They seem to trade employees (Andy too)back and forth.... All "yes" people.

What is it with the Park police anyway? Private campgrounds have private security. I don’t see any riots breaking out. The great escape has mobs of rowdy teens and worse unsupervised preteens and rent a cops do just fine.

Ben lives on said...

So let me get this straight
Alane Ball, formally of Saratoga P.L.A.N now works for NYS OFFICE OF PARKS & REC and made $91,096
And Julie Stokes, who never missed writing a check to any politician who had influence to help her is chair of the board of Saratoga PLAN but now is deputy commissioner in NYS OFFICE OF PARKS & REC
Is this right?
Take about a nefarious and cozy relationship. One hand does wash the other.

Julie took (forced?) early retirement from NYS Parks & Rec. and was asked to be Chair of the Board of Directors at P.L.A.N. Shortly thereafter, Alane Ball went from P.L.A.N. to NYS Parks & Rec. Andy Fyfe (naturalist at NYS Parks) went to P.L.A.N. two years ago.

Think Barbara Glazer is really orchestrating it all ?

Julie campaign donations (now what years were there a deomcratic Governor (Cuomo)and what years did Pataki reign ?

We need to vote the incumbants out of office en masse. Except maybe Roy McDonald who does seem to be a true fiscal conservative (and social moderate).

Warren Redlich said...

There's a Governor candidate talking about the highly paid employees in state and local budgets. Check out http://wredlich.com/ny to find out more.

Governing means making choices. Should we close state parks, lay off teachers, and tax soda? Or should we give a haircut to the people at the top?

I know where I stand. And we know where Paterson stands too. Lazio and Cuomo? Maybe someday they'll let us know.

Anonymous said...

JT, now gubernatorial candidates are blogging here. Good job! Let's see if Cuomo, Paterson, Lazio have anything to say. Good research.

Ben lives on said...

Thank you Mr Redlich for checking in. You do indeed offer a real choice for Governor. Perhaps with the anti establishment anger growing in the third estate this may be your year. Best of luck to you Sir

Barbara Glazer seems to have her hand in many pies in this town. I have also heard her name and NXIVM in the same sentence more than once. She does fit the profile. Can anyone confirm she drinks from NXIVM’S water fountain?

Anonymous said...

This save the pool BS is by far a perfect example of pandering by a small special interest group.

Now that said, the high priced state managers and politicians should manage this pool so that a profit is returned to the state rather than the costs be on the taxpayers backs.

Elliott said...

Ben,

Hi! I know Barbara Glaser and she is clearly not a member of NIXVM. I have talked to her about the scam nature of NIXVM and the impact that it is having on local politics. She is not in that "tribe".

Ben lives on said...

The pool is a rare money marker for Parks. The managers could care less that it makes money or not. They just see it as a pain in their ass. The get paid the same and with the pool closed they will just have one less thing to worry about. The pool is not some kind of taxpayer funded charity we pay 8 bucks to swim. The kids who work there make shit, its the administrators in the Mable Lincoln baths that rape the people.

Cult hunter said...

I can confirm I have seen Barbara Glazer coming and going from 3 Flintlock Lane in Clifton Park. She drinks from Vanguards magic fountain and offers herself as a vessel for his carnal desires.

12:28,

Yuk, now you've made me hurl.

Ben lives on said...

Thank you Eliot. I hope you are correct.God knows we have a enough of them around us as it is.

Anonymous said...

The employees of the parks dept aren't the ones who decide to close the parks. It's some lawmakers in Albany who choose which ones should be closed down. Saying that everyone who makes over a certain amount at the parks deserves to be fired is not a solution.
