News flash, idiot: Mr Ivins has never been the one to call for X number of layoffs in the various departments.
Instead, he does his mandated job of setting budge targets, inlcuding those for salaries & benefits. The next move is for the individual commissioners, in consultation with the unions, to deterrmine whether the preferred route to their budget target is layoffs or salary reductions.
If you recall, it is here that Mr Ronald Kim went about with his misinformation campaign (outright lies); claiming that layoffs were beiing forced on his department by Mr Ivins. Those of us with at least half a brain knew that was total BS.

The Commissioners are challenged to deliver on BUDGET CUTS. Under Ron Kim, a penny saved was a person pink-slipped. Rick Wirth took a more comprehensive view and cut Dogs & DARE and he continues to look at EVERY expense.
But "Folks," job cuts are happening everywhere in a nation that's seeing the Bills coming due. Like 19,000 jobs in New York City.
I don't know about you, but I'm finding boocoo ways to save everywhere I turn.
The current Commissioners can roll up their sleeves and make responsible cuts. Or they can stand their stubborn ground and run on their record in the next election.

Kyle, you don't realize that Wirth told Ivins to go fuck himself when he came to him about cutting more personnel. Once Wirth got in there he has proven to be no different than Kim. Ivins is taking his directive from John Herrick the repub chair. Herrick instructed Ivins to take John franck's lead. Ivins has even had his pissing match with Johnson. That was over an additional $11,000 for the REC Center.

Here's the thing 9:34 PM:
1. The Commissioner's have to assess just how effective their departments are managed.
2. The Council as a whole has to address the strangle hold that the unions have had on this City's budget for all too many years of doing business as usual.
3. Unacceptable overtime and poor management has to be addressed within the two largest departments.
4. The taxpayers will not stand for run-away inflationary department demands any longer.
5. Don't be so sure what you know - you may think you know what they know, but that's only because they want you to know what they want you to know, not what they know.
6. The present Council members know that they got in office because of the meltdown of the wackjob progressive democrats, the self-absorbed Kim, the stigmata of Val, and the promise of responsible realistic budgets.
7. Salaries need to be cut.
Wirth told Ivins to go fuck himself. I can't make that any clearer than that.

It is sad but not surprising that the voice of Commissioner Kim still echoes through the caverns of City Hall. His vocabulary is a remarkable thing, aptly documented.
But while the best of our Peace Officers hear the new tone of a civilized Commissioner, you still revel in the echoes from the toilets.
