I am a big fan Kristin Kreuk. From what I know of her family and the values I believed she was raised with, I wouldn't have expected her to have needed to be a part of such a group, nor would I have ever thought that someone would subsume her under the category of "ignored by their parents growing up." Hey, I just noticed that while he's not necessarily being specific, it's quite clear that Mark Hildreth is indirectly addressing the current NXIVM troubles on his blog. One post asks the question "Has anyone noticed that it’s usually the good guys who get the bad reputation, spread by the bad guys under the guise of “saving us” and “keeping us safe”? He mentions how he's now getting into the "a capella scene" and asks what 'data' people are using to criticize the Dalai Lama. Has anyone ever noticed that while most online bios or articles mention that Edgar Bronfman Sr. has seven children, his Wikipedia page not only ignores the existence of Sara and Clare, but it barely mentions his 2 marriages to their mother Georgianna. So, let's get this straight: one of Keith's little playthings is utilizing her celebrity to influence the hearts and minds of her second-largest fan demographic (after male sci-fi dorks)...HIGHLY manipulable and insecure teenage girls. And not only are these 'efforts' being undertaken online, but they also hold workshops where these 'young women,' I mean CHILDREN, can hear words of inspiration from their favorite young actress and role model. And probably a whole lot of NXIVM-related philosophies disguised as 'self-esteem building' exercises.
If it works the way it's supposed to, it sounds like an excellent way to keep Keith's stable of babes growing in size, and decreasing in average age.

Using theatre as a therapeutic and pedagogic tool can indeed be a good method of discovery and experience – if done unbiased, un-tempered, and in the best traditions of theatre open-minded and diversified. It’s no invention of Raniere though; been around since at least the fifties in the theories and teachings of Hans Martin Ritter & Hans-Wolfgang Nickel for example.

Please stop the wholesale bashing of the espians in such a categorical and generalised fashion without diversification and further thinking. While occasionally I can understand the helplessness felt, it is exactly the sort of behaviour that confirms everything Raniere has taught them about ‘suppressives’, ‘shifters’, and other types and mechanisms, lacks in itself ‘common sense’, and creates the very ‘them and us’ attitude that allows fundamentalist and ‘pure’ ideologies to thrive in the first place.
In fact, you too are following Raniere’s orders and implement the second part of his rulebook, the strategy to enforce a chasm between the members and the outside world, the isolation and perception of the ‘enemy’ (i.e. strikers vs. looters) that is necessary for the dogmas to work and survive without any incentive to compare and diversify, which could show up potential short-comings! To confront ‘extremism’ with nothing but opposite ‘extremism’ breeds nothing but more ‘extremism’ on either side!
And I think we shouldn’t jump to conclusions as to espians’ personal projects outside of the group. Some of these have honourable intentions, are based on good ideas at heart, and are often needed in our current society; we should look at them more closely before we judge them uncompromisingly. While those persons’ affiliation with NXIVM is unfortunate and certainly some of the teachings will be applied, a situation justifying a certain measure of caution and inquiring, we have to acknowledge that not all of those teachings are bad on principle, that many of these projects have other goals than to simply recruit, and may indeed be helpful and worth pursuing and supporting; especially once the connection to the questionable NXIVM leadership is broken.
Personally, looking at GbD I think it is addressing an issue and trying to do something most definitely necessary and honourable; and if they make sure to continue the openness and diversification portrayed on the blog, sustain such going into the workshops, etc., in general keep this clearly and honestly apart from NXIVM, then they can offer opportunities in the world and do a lot of good for these girls.

Sorry, but I could not disagree more.
As you correctly say: Raniere's methodology has as a fundamental principle the 'us' vs 'them' mentality. It us up to 'us' to accumulate 'their' wealth for the benefit of our noble goals, it is 'our' newfound enlightenment that counteracts 'their' failing ways, and so on.
If someone has made their way into this group (for whatever motivations) and then has elected to empower the leadership with their personal support (whether it be emotional, promotional, financial or recruitment support), then they are enablers of Raniere, Salzman and the others -- and their madness.
It is from that stage forward that they EACH must be ID'd and pointed out for being just that; enablers.
Appeasement should not be an option. This cancer must be stopped, and to stop a cancer one must destroy every toxic cell.
The same applies here.
It's simple:
1. Find them
2. Point them out
3. Destroy them
To not do this, one loses the badge of being a good citizen.
Rather than being embroil in ‘fighting’ the symptoms and thus destroying what does not need to be destroyed while letting the cause run rampant unhindered, I’d suggest addressing the cause foremost. These are exactly the sort of idiosyncrasies that are indeed creating social failure in our world.
It is precisely the intent of people like Raniere to whip up such a frenzy, for it serves their purpose: whether it’s some corporation that needs an unstable or contested government to be able to grab up some choice pieces cheap, or a ‘teacher’ of ‘ethics’ to keep his followers and make sure the outside cannot interfere. Instilling blind obedience on the inside and equally ‘enlightened’ opposition thereto on the outside is but a tool in their vast arsenal.
The resulting mind-sets cannot differentiate anymore, cannot recognise the values on either side, cannot allow compromise or acceptance, cannot learn and evolve henceforth, nor can they hope to find a solution that does not destroy either or both sides in some manner. With such hardened stances, there cannot be progress, decency, honesty, respect, etc. nor can there be a just and civilised resolution:
Being considerate towards the general population of a group does not automatically equate to appeasing their top leaders; understanding the mechanisms that drive a group does not forgive or acquit the few who are ultimately wielding them. Using a little reflection towards your fellow humans does not make you a worse citizen; on the contrary…

Remember as a teenager, when your parents would worry about you "following the wrong crowd?" Well, that's what this is on a grown up level. Aside from a select few, none of the people in nxivm are truely evil or would think of hurting someone on purpose. They have joined the wrong crowd and are doing things they would not otherwise do, had they avoided it altogether. Some are smart business people, some are good parents... whatever the case may be. While they have been told that the teachings will make them better at whatever it is they strive for, in fact, the opposite may be true. We all know they would certainly have more money and better, stronger realtionships with their families.
They all should be accountable for their actions and how those actions have affected others. But, as in a trial with multiple defendants, some are more accountable than others. Not all of the culties are as guilty as vanguard and prefect.

Mark Vicente – seems to be institutionalized member of cults. Mark spent years in what some believe to be a cult in Yelm WA. Ramtha‘s School of Enlightenment (RSE). He was “stolen away” (not my words) from RSE into NXIVM.
It is rumored Mark moved to Albany NY shortly after his first 5 day intensive (which ended up being 16 days). It’s rumored that he stayed at Nancy Salzman house during his 16 day training with his girlfriend at the time). Sources say Keith visited Mark many late evenings at Nancy's house after Marks 14 – 16 hour of the training.
Lauren Salzman was Mark’s head trainer and Mark was known as a VIP by the staff of the training as it would be a coup to get Mark to join NXIVM.
Mark moved to Albany so Keith could mentor him in the humanities film making and Mark would than have a huge impact of civilization and he could help change the world through film making.

Knowing of my interest in politics or even motivational speakers, an old friend years ago invited me to a "meeting" at a Broadway restaurant in Saratoga. Accepting and looking forward to a decent speech I arrived. Ushered upstairs what immediately caught my eye was the wide range of demographic present; from the brain surgeon all the way to the Skidmore students, not mixing well together. First impression: anyone with a known telephone number is invited here. Second notice, the appetizers were particularly unimpressive ... pigs in a blanket and Doritos ... unheard of here in the summer. The first alarm was when the waitress asked if I'd like a drink .. bourbon and soda please .. seven heads turned 360's like owls and it was obviously not my thing. Looking around, no-one had a cocktail .. it was all water. So the water was free, I paid my tab, no biggie.
Then this guy starts talking; it wasn't political or even a sales pitch. It was "what's wrong with your life? Whatever it is I can make it better." Well there was nothing wrong with my life then, or now, thank you very much Mr. Concerned. I don't want to be President and have never landed an F-18 on a carrier deck but I can live with that.
So he asks me directly "what do you really want?", well, to have more time with my family. "But you want more money and peace with the World as well?" No, I'm really okay with things (can I just sip my drink please?)
Grabbed the old buddy, went to the back asking "what is this?" Over 4 weeks you can attend the sessions for about $2,500. Or if you want to move forward fast you can attend an "intensive" for $5,000.
