The Paula Gretzinger’s video about her new show ‘Parentology’ and her rather lame explanation of how she came up with the name smelled a little off. At this point in life I am more than vigilant about this type of thing. Why? this crap thinking is getting into our schools and government.
For a professional broadcast journalist, as she bills herself, it is hard to believe she did not do a search of this name before settling on it. Turns out Parentology has more than a passing resemblance to Scientology.
There is a company called Parentology on the web, with an apparent copyright on the name. Could Gretzinger really be that oblivious of this? She works in the media. Just too hard to believe she did not make sure there wasn’t a company already using it. My theory is there is a connection.
Parentology on the web is the brainchild of a Multi Level Marketing guy of a type completely familiar to readers of this blog. The lingo used to describe him sounds the like the Executive Success Programs of Raniere:

When Barbs talks about parenting, she's just following the Raniere school of philosophy. You don't have to be an expert in the field, or have any actual experience in what is being discussed. You just have to look good. @10:13 Some of the saddest things about all this are the people who get suckered in by this fraud. Many of them are good-hearted, artistic people who dream of putting their talents to work to make a difference for good in the world. "Vanguard" is good at insinuating himself into people's lives by observing where their passions lie and then talking about his own "passion and interest" in the same area - only it's just talk. When someone starts to look at his actions, one realizes he is not what he claims to be. Unfortunately, by the time that realization occurs, Raniere has often managed to use these good-hearted people to advance his own ends. He's a pathetic SOB who needs constant adulation to make himself feel important in the world. The great shame in all of this is the damage he does to all the people around him while he is propping up and protecting his own ego. Sadly, physical abuse against children is pretty clearly recognized, but psychological/emotional abuse doesn't usually provoke preventative action. I don't see that there are many avenues of hope for Gaelan at this point.
Bizarre! Just heard that the things authorities are investigating have nothing to do the the groups, but rather just certain individuals and have nothing to do with anything ever mentioned here. While indeed serious, it likey won't be newsworthy or make the papers.
What are they invesivating and why not mention it here if it's already being investigated ?
