SPAC classical season goes out with a bang

Well first what do Keith Raniere, Steve Coffey, Ron Kim, Skip Sirocco and Herb Chesbrough all have in common? Besides hating my guts that is. Well according to one of my contemporary’s all of these people are powerful outspoken women. Seems she believes I might be a “women hating type but your resentment of strong outspoken women is quite clear”. So congratulations boys, I have been exposed I hate you all for being powerful woman. Well I’m done with “Waiting for Godot” at the moment so let’s get on to that powerful and intelligent woman {You know the kind I’m secretly afraid of because they threaten my masculinity} Marcia J. White.

SPAC closed its Classical season { except for the Chamber concert today and a modern dance program Tuesday} last night with the Philadelphia Orchestra with the largest crowd I’ve seen in years. The Program was a masterpiece in marketing called the TCHAIKOVSKY SPECTACULAR put together by guest conductor Bramwell Tovey a brilliantly funny Man who had me cracking up. What a change of pace from the stiff humorless Marcia White favorite Charles Dutoit. Dutoit who was fired from the Montreal Symphony in April 2002 after a bitter dispute with the musicians has been like the bad uncle who never goes home, playing the same old programs, conducting in a robotic and mechanical fashion while refusing to engage the audience, that in reality pays his salary. I only hope he never darkens SPAC’s stage again.
The rest of the program was
TCHAIKOVSKY Coronation March for Alexander III
TCHAIKOVSKY Violin Concerto with a brilliant Gil Shaham on Violin
TCHAIKOVSKY Suite From Swan Lake which was never performed before on the SPAC stage despite being a crowd favorite
TCHAIKOVSKY 1812 Overture

But in bigger news I’m happy to report that
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has created a task force to investigate non-profits and the salaries of those who run them.

That means you Ms.WHITE.
I am also happy to report the TIMES UNION picked up on the story about her salary.

HSBC and SPAC

"HSBC, a major corporate sponsor of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in the state park in Saratoga Springs, is de-emphasizing its upstate presence by selling its retail branch network to First Niagara.
Marcia White, executive director of SPAC, said she has not been advised whether HSBC will continue its financial relationship. The corporate name is spread over SPAC promotional material and is announced on the SPAC voice mails of White and staff.
White would not say how generous HSBC has been specifically, but called the banking company the biggest sponsor and a heavy underwriter of the center's classical season, involving the ballet and orchestra, the past two years. She said the deals are typically a year at a time, so there is never a guarantee that a corporate sponsor will continue a relationship.
HSBC is shifting its business plan to corporate and commercial lines. A spokesman said is too early to discuss corporate sponsorships.
SPAC reported in its recent filing to the IRS that its expenses exceeded $6.88 million last year and its revenues were $7.1 million, increases in both categories. White said she has been freezing salaries.
Records show she and some staff received increases.
Her salary in 2010 was $242,400 plus $38,711 in "other compensation," a total of $281,111, up from $233,819 and $38,019, or $271,838 in 2009.
The biggest costs, for performing companies, dropped: The New York City ballet cost $1,379,558 and the Philadelphia Orchestra cost $1,374,000, down from $1,415,663 and $1,397,438 respectively for 2009.
Ticket sales exceeded $2.54 million, a slight drop from $2.55 million a year earlier. Membership dues were almost $1.7 million last year, down from the $1.74 million.
Catering costs with Mazzone Management rose to $304,640 from $277,175.

Do you feel the hot breath breathing down your neck Marcia? Those are state investigators.
Remember what happened to your friend the founder of the New York State Theatre Institute Patricia Snyder? You know Patty, lives on North Broadway destroyed a 36-year-old theater with serial nepotism, inappropriate spending and self-dealing? Had E.Steward Jones on her board and gave lots of free tickets to her friends just like you do? Saratogian loved her, never a bad word in the paper about her even when she was ordered to pay $200,000 to end a probe by the attorney general's office.
Full story in Times Union Here

Well time will tell and a lot of things can happen over a long cold winter. What do you do the other 9 months of the year anyway for $300,000 a year {that number was verified by the TU see above}?

And finally I would like to thank all of you my friends who gave me free tickets. And to the donor who gave me their Patrons card so I could talk to other supporters of SPAC THANK YOU.
In the end I found their were two schools of opinion over Marcia White. Some people love her{I also found most of those people were given Comp{free} tickets by White and the rest who were fed up with her salary, plastic surgery and arrogance{most of these people paid for their tickets}
See you at Tuesdays City Council meeting where you might get to see me assaulted by one of the arty types of this town

To those of you who can be bought for a handful of free tickets. They’re not her tickets, there SPACs. Joe Bruno taught her well, buy your friends with government money and pretend it came out of your own pocket.
And finial to the idiot who thinks you hates women. You must not know John or his strong Sisters or his numerous female friends, not to even mention all the girls and boys of Eastern Europe he has taken in

Whatever imbecile said that you might be a “women hating type but your resentment of strong outspoken women is quite clear” is herself lacking in any intellect or observation skills.

What all of these women have in common is that they are in their current position due to successful men. Whether they got there by divorce settlement, an ex pulling a favor to secure a job, etc. it is all the same thing. None of them accomplished anything on their own.

Care to deny, Miss Loud and Outspoken?

John is the most open minded person I know. He supports all cultures and life styles. He is not afraid of men, women or those with any sexual orientation. He is a man who is extremely intelligent and has a quest to find and speak the truth. I will say that John has an opinion on every subject. EVERY subject. Ask him how to cook an egg-he'll have an opinion. The economy-John has an opinion. Window treatments-ask John! Love you, John!

Tempered by Politics?
August 15, 2011 at 5:30 pm by Dennis Yusko

A sculpture built to bring Americans together ten years after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks is tearing some apart on the eve of the anniversary.

Some city residents oppose placing Tempered by Memory, created by two New York artists with steel from the World Trade Center, on the lawn of the Saratoga Springs Visitor Center. Visitor center officials, a local artist and some preservationists believe that the 22-foot-high artwork would clash with the historic streetscape of that section of Broadway, which includes buildings and monuments from 1915. Some in the group call for the monument to go on Lake Avenue near the state Military Museum and city firehouse.

The clash has caused the City Council to skip a vote on the project’s approval, leading many to believe that the sculpture will not be displayed by Sept. 11. On Monday, the director of Saratoga Arts, the main sponsor of the project, blasted its opponents and members of the City Council for the delay in a letter to supporters that was obtained by the Times Union. Drawing a comparison to the 2004 political ad that attacked decorated Vietnam veteran John Kerry for his war credentials, director Joel Reed said opponents were “swiftboating” the 9/11 memorial.

Reed accused city Democrats of opposing the project for partisan gain during an election year, and Republicans who control the City Council of treating Sept. 11 as “an arbitrary date on the calendar.”

“Democrats attacking a community arts project created by a rainbow coalition of artists, unions, small and large businesses, and individuals from all walks of life? Republicans minimizing the significance of
the tenth anniversary of September 11, 2001, and shunting aside a project that deeply resonates with veterans and first responders? And both throwing Saratoga Arts and the chance for community unity on 9/11 under the bus in the hope of picking up a few votes,” Reed’s letter says.

He urged supporters to contact elected officials and speak in favor of the project at Tuesday’s City Council meeting in City Hall. Mayor Scott Johnson has scheduled a discussion on the topic, but no vote.

Tempered by Memory was originally slated for in front of the Saratoga Springs City Center. City officials changed that location last month to the visitor center, saying the sculpture was too large.

Several speakers protested the new site at the last City Council meeting. Michael Messinger, co-chairman of the visitor center’s board, and Lance Ingmire, a board member, said the modern sculpture would threaten the historic integrity of the area around the center. They suggested putting the art on Lake Avenue.

“It would be reprehensible to rush this process without fully vetting other locations,” Ingmire said.
Artist Amejo Amyot of the Beekman Art District took a harder line. She accused Saratoga Arts of a “serious breach of arts in public places etiquette.” The organization failed to invite calls for entries from other artists for the project before choosing sculptors John Van Alstine of Wells, Hamilton County, and Noah Savett of Gansevoort, Amyot said. “If we were to honor anything about this tragedy, it should be the people we lost,” she said. “The sculpture has no redeeming aesthetic or artistic value.”

Other speakers said that the sculpture would draw tourists and move those who see it. The city’s Design Review Commission and state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation support “Tempered by Memory” at the visitor center, Reed said. In the letter, he accused unnamed artists of “grinding the axe of personal resentment,” and opponents of “using party fundraisers and blogs as forums for undercutting the project.”

Saratoga Arts wants the monument up by Sept. 11, Reed said in an interview Monday, adding that it has made commitments to project donors, the artists, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, from whom it received the shards of steel, iron workers and of course, the 9-11 victims.

“If you feel that the tenth anniversary of September 11, 2001, and its commemoration should transcend city politics, and this unique artwork should have a place in our city, ask (city leaders) to stop stalling and vote to accept the project,” Reed wrote.

Apparently these guys never heard of the I.M. Pei entrance to the Louvre in Paris? Yeah, that's been a colossal failure, hasn't it. NOT.
