Well folks I started this little experiment in blogging almost two years ago to cover the last city election, little did I know the long strange trip it would be, but for better or worse welcome to my expanded and exclusive coverage of this this year’s election.
Now before I get in to it understand one thing.
IT’S ABOUT CHANGING THE CITIES CHARTER.
Everything else is just a side show. Brent Wilkes with Citizen Pat Kane at his side is running for Mayor to change the charter period. Michele Madigan, candidate for Saratoga Springs Commissioner of Finance is just along for the ride with dentist Chris Mathiesen candidate for the office of Public Safety Commissioner pulling up the rear.
Now they also have embraced a few other mantra’s of the old Val Keehn wing of the Democratic Committee I.E. resurrecting the old Kim/Benton plan for a Police Palace and to replace Saratoga EMS (SEMS)our valiant Volunteer ambulance service {who doesn’t cost the city one dime} with more over paid and archaic fireman who like to play Doctor on sidewalks, when they should be preparing the victim for transport to a real hospital with qualified Doctors and Nurses and quit wasting valuable time{ for the record I have always had friends or family quickly transport me to the ER and had no interest in wasting time with quasi-interns in meat wagons}. This along with a new Fire House so Nancy Goldberg can get help off her toilet at 2 in the morning in less than two minutes flat. Read Here. Or even much worse as this video shows.
The problem is the candidates seem to be ducking the issue of CHARTER CHANGE.
Come on boys and girls be proud. Tell us the truth and let the Citizens decide.

Couldn't be more excited to see the focus back on the city in decline. Since the Saratogian won't ask the tough questions, perhaps we can get some answers to them if we ask them here.
1. Why haven't we ready anything about ANY convictions from the club shadow "riot" downtown. The SSPD couldn't wait to tell us how awful it was, but it seems justice hasn't been served. Is this another case of the SSPD crying wolf? We're relying on the reports of the same night crew who was sure this city had a "hate crime" (although the DA disagreed). We also have Patrolman Ed Braim as a central figure, the same officer who claimed he was "assaulted" by a Skidmore student (although the DA and the witness statements disagreed). What really happened, and what's the end result. Wirth, Mathiesen.... discuss. First one to get answers gets ALOT of votes.
2. Another question for the Public Safety candidates... Why are we spending $500K to refurbish the Lake Ave fire department? The city owns ALOT of land on Weible ave. Why not sell the valuable, downtown land, and build a simple brick building to house our fire trucks on Weible Ave. While your at it, why is our fire department still one day on, 3 days off? Get it together and get 4 12 hour shifts working 4 days on 4 days off (just like a factory, with an hour unpaid meal break and 2 30 min unpaid breaks).
3. For the mayor candidates.. what can Mr. Wilkes, or his new form of government do to get control of the city employees? We had an employee strike a co-worker and call him a "nigger" many times, and we PAID him to NOT WORK, until he was eligible to retire. How would your new government handle that situation?
4. An open question for the field.. While Police Chief Cole was disgracing our city his "sexting" scandal, concerns were brought up about how the SSPD was handled the complaint that started the investigation. How are complaints handled in your department, and do you think this system is sufficent and what do, or will, you do to ensure that the voice of the people is heard in city hall, and by the "civil servants" who had CHOSEN careers where they serve and represent the residents of the City of Saratoga Springs?

Brent Wilkes is just another out of towner who has made his living screwing municipal governments mainly in his real home Massachusetts. Madigan looks like she is looking for a prom date and appears more like a lost teenager who parents relocated here and she has had trouble making new friends.

Who do I talk to now about getting nominated by the city Democratic party for some political office?
Brent Wilkes has an interesting business interest in "Charter Change". He owns a company that has a business in recruiting and hiring "City Managers" for municipalities.
They make money by having a network of candidates for these types of positions, often churning candidates selected for one city to go the next city - earning a fat fee in the process.
Just to be clear... this brent wilkes is not the Brent Roger Wilkes that you can find on wikipedia born May 21st?
I like to have GPS,s on all tax payer cars & trucks that the city uses.
