Well the time has come for you, the residents of all the Saratoga Housing Authority properties {Jefferson Terrace, Vanderbilt Terrace and Stonequist Apartments} to stand up and tell the Mayor at his Tuesday 2pm conference and at the hearing at 7pm Tuesday in City Hall that is chaired by Commissioner of Accounts John Franck just what a lousy piece of shit Authority Board Chairman Dennis Brunelle and his chief henchman Ed Spychalski really are{ I’m not trying to put words in your month but that is my opinion of them}.
I’ve heard your complaints from the bedbugs to the predatory sexual offenders living among you. I know about the good Pastor John Rice leader of the Saratoga Independent Church who was also declared persona no grata at all Saratoga Housing Authority properties and the women whose arm was broken by a sex offender.
I’ve heard about the illegal questioning of heath care personal and the violations of your HIPAA rights at the same time drunks and drug dealers roam your halls free from any interference. You’ve told me of being forced to pay “FINES” in cash and then being harassed if you asked for a receipt.
Now you’ve put up with this shit for too long.
STAND UP AND SHOUT; I’M MAD AS HELL AND NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE.
You know I might be an asshole and god knows I can’t spell or write but if I’ve learned anything in my life it’s this.
Being poor or disabled isn’t a crime. That in the eyes of GOD,any one of you is as loved and valued by GOD as much or perhaps even more than all the Brunelles and Spychalskis in this world.
The main stream media has done its job.I’ve tried hard as well, with my special brand of Gorilla Journalism, but now it’s up to you. I will stand with you, not just now but in the future. I will meet with any of you who feel that the Housing Authority thugs have retaliated against you for speaking out. Remember any threats made against you by staff may in themselves be a crime. Report them to the police.

JT, as usual, is spot on: People who will not stand up for their own rights can not be helped. But those who are willing to fight oppression can free everyone who is being oppressed. STAND UP NOW!
Hopefully, these folks will stand up and be heard. But I disagree a little with 6:51: these folks are vulnerable, elderly, poor, afraid, totally dependant on these people for their living conditions and they are scared to death of being kicked out or retaliated against so much that their lives are at stake. These people need help whether they can get to a meeting or not. They found a voice on the blog. That's different than standing up, at a public meeting, and accusing the people who have power over them of wrong doing. We need audits, AG investigations, Adult Protective Services etc. These people need advocates who can meet with them privately, in a safe environment, free from pressure and fear.
In war truth is the first casualty ...But, not when JT is on the job. Stand up people, your not alone anymore!
Yes, I agree with anonymous 7:23 because when Pastor John was being pushed out, some tenants tried to take a stand and they were ignored by the city and intimidated by the housing authority, its equally corrupt board, and the city police. Living in oppression and fear really suck, but unless there's some kind of guarantee that city officials and HUD will not allow retaliation, I doubt that many tenants will speak out publicly.
Note to 7:23 from 6:51 - I agree. it's not important that they literally stand up at the meeting and speak out as individuals. But it is critical that they provide testimony to the members of the City Council, HUD, the AG, etc. as to what has been going on at the Saratoga Housing Authority. Being afraid is understandable. Being silent is not.
JT-
STAND UP NOW and SHOW UP NOW!Join the Mayor's meeting, STAND UP to Ed and get your "Unlawful arrest." If there's bail, I'll pay it. If there's Police Brutality, I'll document it. And when you sue for violation of your Civil Rights, I'll testify.
YOU can do what residents CAN'T. And Ed's reign will be ended in a huge cash settlement you richly deserve.
Or Brunelle can brush it off and walk as the Mayor smiles his charming gap-toothed grin.
There is no question people are going to jail. Only question is for how long.
I am hoping beyond hope that Spychalski will NOT show up at the Tuesday afternoon meeting with the Mayor; many people will NOT speak the truth if he's there...or if he's listening on the TV that's looking out over that Great Room...there are TV's all over our building #1 for our security, but lately they've been used in a "police state" manner...to spy on us, to listen to things going on...at times when I walk down my hall, not that I have anything to hide,I believe that we are being watched. Did anyone ever mention that when David Wright set out to put the petitions/surveys under doors (trying to do it in a discreet manner for protection of each tenant so they could speak out without having their name being seen on one large sheet) on how many people had bedbugs - or not - and allowing them to comment on those sheets (I have possession of all the ones returned) Ed sent around a letter that Monday saying that in light of some complaints by tenants of being harrassed by this petition, he wanted anyone who felt they were being harrassed to report it to him!! THAT is the ONLY survey he's taken...NOT "do you feel you have bedbugs, contact me"..NOOO but intimating David was "harrassing"; harrassment is a continual badgering of someone, NOT a one time placing of a survey under a person's door!My apt # was put on the petition ONLY because I knew David spent literally no time in his apartment due to the amount of bugs he has, and that is basically how I got embroiled in this; NOT that I am saying I shouldn't have gotten involved - I'd do it over again if necessary; I WILL be at both meetings, God willing. Even if I don't speak, I will go to show my solidarity...I hope everyone who feels they need to speak up on things they have been told NOT to speak about, will show up...we NEED YOUR VOICE - STONEQUIST RESIDENTS: I spoke up for you...it's YOUR TURN NOW! Don't embellish, tell it like it is! When I went to City Council that first night in November, the 3 people who came with me said they didn't want to speak, that I could do it, yet after I got up & spoke they were so moved that each one got up after me...and brought me to tears so badly that I had to leave the meeting. I was SO PROUD of them...let me be proud of you.
ok, people, I just read the two articles JT highlighted here in this blog;isn't it something that the same outrage is here 2 years later? AND another thing...this state of the art fitness equipment is STILL in the room where this sex offender had his business...but the residents of Stonequist are NOT permitted to use it; seems ONLY ONE lady from the office uses it daily on her lunch hour...so, basically some of the $$ needed for extermination is sitting in a room collecting dust, while someone person goes in every day at noon to use it? This is Federal property and we, the Residents, should be permitted to use the facility or you should sell it. I remember at least 2 meetings last year where I mentioned to Ed that we'd like to use one of the vacant rooms as a mini mart to buy bread, eggs, milk butter, for Residents, sort of like what Embury Apts has, and was giben a flat NO; I can't believe that no one helped Pastor John in Nov 2009...well, Pastor, we're gonna get you help and get you back wehre you belong: helping all these people who really need you, cuz Pastor John And Ms Anastasia, you totally ROCK!n OH YES ANOTHER THING...for some ODD reason maybe political & I don't get involved in that stuff, the Stonequist Manager has taken over collecting rents and keeping the books on Embury Apartments...I SMELL A RAT HERE SOMEWHERE...I believe their books should be summoned also! ARE THEY INDEPENDENT? Or have they become HUD owned also??? Someone needs to ask the hardball question.
ok then, so the Saratogian has come out with a nw story where Mayor Johnson is calling for a State audit by the Comptroller's Office, and he appointed someone to fill the empty seat on the Board of Directors, I don't know who Albert Colucci is, but he HAS to be better than Ollie Westcott and Michele Deyette who were going to be running for the position. Neither of them could ever have represented me anyway; neither speaks to me because of all this hubbub.
