Revelations in the Saratoga Seen blog at the TU website penned by Denis Yusko claim Ed Spychalski, in a budget cutting move axed the long term pest control company Staring’s Pest and Rodent Control’s in 2006. They provided monthly sanitary inspections for cockroaches, ants, bedbugs and insects.
Now get this company owner Thomas Staring is quoted as saying “He{ Spychalski} decided I was no longer needed, that the budget could be spent better,” He went on to say “he had never seen a bedbug in the 25 years he had worked in Stonequist, Vanderbilt Terrace and Jefferson Terrace.”

So the $152,000 director makes a command decision to save a few bucks by killing a very effective program. I guess Thomas Staring just wasn’t part of Spychalski’s family tree. I'm waiting for the NUN to chime in about what an effective leader Ed is again.

I am not aware of any reference made by me about you at all. I certainly did not characterize you as a liar during a meeting or at any other time. Someone has misinformed you. I did get into a discussion after the meeting with Kyle York about a comment he made about the Housing Authority meeting. He stated that there were six police officers sent to that venue to intercept you in case you had decided to attend.
That was simply not true. Officers who were there attended for other reasons. There were fewer than six officers at any time. No, they were not there to intercept you. We have asked the city attorney to look into whether access can be denied in a case such as yours for an open meeting being held on Housing Authority grounds. So far, our research shows that access should not be denied during the time that the open meeting is being held. This seems appropriate to me since it is consistent with the definition of an open meeting. We will be letting you know when a final determination has been reached

1) HOW MANY Police at Stonequist are "not six" Police at Stonequist?
2) WHAT REASONS justified the "not six" Police at Stonequist?
3) "OPEN MEETING LAW" is an easy Google search... although it may produce big words.
4) ROBERT J. FREEMAN can provide "Talking Points 101" for a leader unable to read or lead.
5) MYLIESEN'S COMMENTS and officer head-count "facts" should have been made immediately and openly as part of the "Public Workshop"...

Can you believe the amount of lawsuits the city will have if he were able to carry out his promise?
I'm hearing that Comm. Mathiesen is falling for this stupid ploy. The once opposed Comm. is now deciding to vote in favor of the funding along with Skippy & the Mayor.

Kyle was one of the supporters of the Democrats in the election so his comments are appreciated. It's impressive to get both John and Kyle pissed at you at the same time. Chris really has nothing to do with Sptcowski or the bed bug issue. However now that the SSPD has put itself in the middle (Ed has some cop relatives) Chris is involved.Rather than mouthing off maybe a simple "I'll. Look into it" is appropriate. This man also needs to get a copy. Of Roberts Rules. Then maybe he'll understand what he's supposed to do at a meeting.

I read the comments to the story on your first "HERE"...I notice that suddenly 2 people are attacking me in print; small surprise, since I am squeaky clean and have conducted myself with the utmost dignity, they try to go back to 2007, mentioning when I was approached by a newsreporter to do a story because I was a translator in the backstretch Clinic (I speak read & write VERY FLUENT Spanish). By the way, Chris, when the police are used to intimidate for political reasons it is called a "police state." Instead of calling people liars perhaps you should investigate exactly what happened. @ 11:59:I will stay vigilant on the extermination and bedbug issue,but I'm just stepping back for a bit; my brother is back in town, my dad's not all that healthy, and I have done the bulk of the work and helped others to NOT have fear. Some residents have told me that men with gas masks on have come into their apartments this morning...so that means things are getting done.But I'll be watching them...I DO have a jeweler's loupe, not just a magnifying glass HAHA and I don't want to be reading junk from these Spychalski family members who are writing such venom; it's counterproductive to my bliss. Yes, it's great that the bedbug issue is finally being addressed, but what about the arbitrary "no trespassing" orders and the ever present threat of eviction as a form of retaliation? Even the housing authority's PR guy confirmed the "reign of terror" in the TU article the other day about the woman who had to prove she didn't violate her lease by having a party. The PR guy said, in response to questions about the attempted eviction, "When the housing authority receives a complaint of a lease violation, the authority contacts the resident and issues an eviction notice. From there, the housing authority holds an informal hearing with an attorney present to discuss the issue and allow the tenant to present his or her version of events. The housing authority often resolves these matters during the informal hearings, and likewise occasionally elects not to proceed with evictions."
Basically his statement confirmed that a complaint about a lease violation -- not actual EVIDENCE of a lease violation, but a simple COMPLAINT -- leads to an automatic eviction notice that the tenant must then fight, by proving that the incident did not occur. In other words, assuming that the attorney is representing the housing authority and not the accused tenant, the implication is that tenants are always guilty until proven innocent, leaving them powerless against eviction unless they can disprove the allegations or hire their own legal representation. And most of them wouldn't be living there if they could afford to hire a lawyer to fight evictions.
And then there's still all the unresolved fiscal issues, and the sudden need to edit some of the online newsletters and then remove the site altogether -- if there's nothing to hide, why edit the newsletters? Why take the site down? Is this their new version of "transparency?"

I agree with 6:16 and 8:03. This manager, who saw his next paycheck coming from unemployment, changed his tune in a hurry to save his job. I hope that city officials see this sudden change of heart as what it is- a desperate attempt to stay employed.
All of these months of inaction can't be excused while so many people suffered and he ignored them. He won't change. It's time to really save money and hire a new manager who will work for less.

Hey John,,, maybe you should have someone look into the 28 accidents caused by the DPW and the fact that only one was the other drivers fault.
This was stated by no other than Marilynn Rivers at a safty meeting ,,she also stated that the city can't afford insurance because of all the accidents.
..It is also a fact that their are people driving city vehicles with two DWI's and they could not pass a urine test because they tested positive for crack cocaine.
But after a two week holiday from driving they went rite back driving again...
Any public trucking company would not even consider employing such people...DUE TO INSURANCE COSTS,
WHY IS THE CITY KEEPING THEM????

You would think, considering the problem areas reported in SSHA's HUD audit in 2001, that the board and administration would have had plenty of time to understand and comply with HUD's regulations and requirements. Yet here we are with similar problems more than a decade later. HUD's 2001 audit findings concluded the following:
1. Improvement is needed in the system of procurement.
2. Ineligible and unsupported payments were made from the general fund.
3. Need to execute a current contract for supplement police services.
4. Questionable compensation payments to administrative employees.
5. Ineligible and unsupported travel costs.
6. Discrepancies exist in employees' leave records.
7. Need to strengthen administrative accounting controls.
Several issues sound eerily familiar, don't they? It was also noted that the PHA generally agreed with the findings and recommendations of the 2001 audit. Apparently Mr. Spychalski didn't learn much in the past decade.

gerri loya earned her upgrade just like the other people on that sheet this is civil service that gives upgrades, not commissioner skippy from dpw. Why don't tou check out from the department of accounts why stephenie Voigt's Kid (nate) got hired by the city. Nate is just a lazy stupid and dumb kid that has no high school diploma, he is a high school dropout. Nate also was hire once when Tommy Mctygue was in office, Nate was on the flower crew and did nothing exept what he want to do, and nate was nothing but trouble to the whole flower crew. Thank you

I also don't like the the one who heads this blog John Tige, I heard he used to work for the city and he was lazy and stupid from people that worked with him. also show both side of the city meetings commissioner skip could with the resevation coordinator if hired could make double or triple amount of money for the city, about 1 million to 1.5 million dollars for a 42,000 job.
