David Soares on NXIVM: You can’t handle the truth

David Soares is calling all of this the election "funny season" Well David none of this seems funny to me.

More details emerged today as to NXIVM’s founder Keith Raniere and his top aide-de-camp Kristin Keefe trying to get Joseph O’Hara indicted perhaps illegally... The Times Union HERE reports that David Soares revealed that he was subjected to “tremendous pressure” to prosecute O’Hara by various cult members and their well-paid lobbyists.

An Albany County grand jury did manage to indict O'Hara in 2007 for one count of grand larceny after NXIVM officials and lawyers of NXIVM pushed Soares to use his powers of prosecution against the former NXIVM consultant . Three months later, a state judge dismissed the case on motion, something that is extremely rare.

Soares also confirmed that his original investigation of O’Hara came about as the result of intense efforts on the part of NXIVM officials and the Bronfman brats {Clare and Sara Bronfman} to get his office to help them.

In this article published today David Soares revealed it was also an "extraordinary" time as he was pressured to re-indict NXIVM whistleblower Joe O’Hara after his initial indictment was tossed aside with disdain by the judge who was assigned to oversee the case.

Soares also reveled that former Massachusetts Attorney General Scott Hashbarger and former Arkansas Supreme Court Justice Richard Mays, also a former prosecutor, showed up in person to persuade Soares to go after O'Hara.Makes Steve Coffey look like small change.One of the most interesting pieces of information in today’s story was Soares’ statement that NXIVM president Nancy Salzman, Clare Bronfman and Kristin Keeffe and various lawyers would show up at his office for unscheduled visits and insist that he meet with him. Unfortunately, Odato apparently didn’t ask the very obvious follow-up question: Why would any of those people think that they could insist you do anything?

Now, I don’t know how they do things in Albany County but where I come from, people don’t go around “insisting” that elected officials like Soares do anything unless they have some reason to think they’re entitled to make such demands
So, if NXIVM and its high priestesses receive unfettered access to Soares office,what exactly did they do in order to get him to “drop anything” whenever they wanted to meet with him?
Well as it turns out his sister
Madalena T. Soares is NXIVM(#277)
his sister Elsa (Soares) Vicente is NXIVM(#507),
And brother-in-law, Al Vicente is NXIVM(#154)

All are card carrying members of the NXIVM circus. And if any of them took any NXIVM courses, then they very likely participated in one or more Explorations of Meaning (EMs).
During these EMs, NXIVM students are asked to reveal intimate details about themselves – with an emphasis on traumatic events that had occurred in their lives and on “bad things” they had done. As a result, NXIVM often obtains intimate information about the people who take their courses.

But thats still not enough to explain why Soares allowed NXIVM's “legal liaison,” Kristin Keefe to spend time — Soares estimated weeks — in the district attorney's office to work on the case against O'Hara. Soares said that arrangement is not uncommon when his office prepares financial crimes cases. He called Keefe a “sort of victim's advocate.”

This leaves me with a number of very troubling questions

So what does a victim’s advocate do in the District attorney’s office for “weeks” on end?

Keefe clearly worked on indicting O’Hara. Did Soares allow an interested person in the case to use the power of his office to obtain bank records and prepare subpoenas?

Clearly, she was more than a victim’s advocate. She worked in effect – whether she was called so or not – as an intern or an authorized representative of the District Attorney.

Is this a common practice of Soares’ office?

May we have the names of some “victim’s advocates” who worked in his office for weeks and where indictments were procured?

Keefe apparently did much of the actual work for the DA. She got information through the power of the grand jury to help get an indictment and also to help (it has been suggested she may have stolen the documents from the DA’s office – documents she should never have been allowed access to) in the civil case the Bronfmans, were waging against O’Hara.

Soares is characterizing this whole matter as one where he resisted the urge to re-indict O’Hara.

He did not resist the urge to indict him in the first place.

What we would like to know was when did Mays and Harshbarger show up in person?

Was it before or after the first indictment?

Did the pressure came on before the indictment, and is that why Soares indicted O’Hara in the first place.


Was Soares influenced by motives other than true justice?

Is that’s why he allowed Keefe in his office for weeks?

It is not comforting to know that we have a district attorney who will allow, as long as the people have enough money and influence, a victim’s advocate- who is clearly deeply interested in an indictment - to come right into his office and work there for weeks and help get someone she wants indicted.

We would like to know exactly what Keefe did as a “victim advocate”?

What documents did she have access to?

Did she fill out any grand jury subpoenas (as we are told she did)?

Did she have access to the information revealed?

Did she have access to the entire case Soares had built up against O”Hara?

Did she use any of this information (under seal) to wage the Bronfman/NXIVM civil litigation war against O’Hara?

Soares said NXIVM President Nancy Slazman, Clare Bronfman, Keeffe and various lawyers insisted he meet with them.

Were there any financial contributions made to Soares?

Were any promised?

Soares said he came to believe that NXIVM, or the Bronfmans, wanted to use the district attorney's office as "leverage" in separate civil "legal matters" involving O'Hara.

Well of course they did.

Is Soares suggesting he did not realize this from the start?

At best, Soares seems a willing tool who allowed his office to be used by Raniere to add a criminal component to what seems essentially a civil matter between O’Hara and the Bronfmans over a $2 million loan against tracts of real estate in Saratoga County.

In the end, Soares said Keeffe was not an intern. She did not have authorization to use district attorney resources, he said.

Then the final question is: then what the hell was she doing there every day for weeks?


Well this is an election year so not only do I want answers but the voting public wants answers.
