And the winner is Ken Ivins for the board of the Saratoga Housing Authority.

I know many of you will bitch and moan but I like Ivins. He was always an outspoken critic of city employees’ salaries and benefits. I can only assume that he is appalled by Executive Director Ed Spychalski’s annual salary and contract.

In other Council news leaders members of the city’s business community including the DBA and the chamber of commerce took Commissioner of Public Safety Chris Mathiesen to task for continuing to paint the city as violent and dangerous. Citing a story in the Wall Street Journal HERE

Later Commissioner of Accounts John Franck defended Mathiesen, calling the city a violent hell hole.

Note to Downtown business owners Mathiesen has the votes with Franck and Madagan on board.
Maybe you should start planning for the next election to undue some of the damage coming down the pike.

Mathiesan is a grandstanding piece of crap, one of the biggest public saftey issues in the city is on the streets everyday and that's the truck traffic! Why not post ton limits on some of these streets??Why is deputy finneran in dpw offices everyday?

I always liked Ivins. He'll do a good job. Hopefully some of the other board members will step down. I'd like to see the mayor appoint a Democrat so se have a nonpartisan board. Both parties are on the same page on this one.

I went to the meeting to see some cleavage. What the hell. Matty was all bundled right up to the neck. Still ran her big mouth. Another 2 years and your out democrat.

"violent hell hole"

It took thirty years to build up a vibrant downtown and these tree will destroy it in 2.

I understand that Franck is sincere but its time for a few more contested races

Ivins is honest, sincere and dedicated to transparency. Spychalski and Brunelle better check the extradition treaty with Peru.

The district attorney should be checking Spychalski's Easy Pass, not fake ID's from China. BTW watch the deals the district attorney makes once he figures out who is related to who.

I wonder if John will be supporting Chris’s call to hire more cops and build a new police station?

What is the one proven about all politicians?
They never fail to disappoint.

Why doesn't Mathiesan worry about using the power he already has to fix downtown. His cops are half the problem. They escalate situations, rather then properly handling them.

It's a bunch of nepotism hires who think they can do as they wish with the law and our rights, because their daddy was lousy at being a cop, and his daddy before him was lousy at being a cop. Now they deserve to be a lousy cop too, and do whatever they want.

Look at this situation with our "terrorist". Seems pretty obvious we've got a guy who's got some mental issues, and was off his meds. From what's been reported, we've seen zero evidence he had any means to follow through on any threats or comments that were made.

What isn't being reported, is that I believe if someone digs a bit deeper, they'll find that the reason the cops have such a hard on for this guy (other then the fact they use any excuse to manufacture fear to try to justify their existence) is because I believe you'd find a prior relationship between this guy and a cops family member.

Madigan and Finneran are drunk at the bar at Jacob & Anthony's three or four nights a week and they are sloppy drunks. Madigan plays up the MILF look while Finneran is just an old drunk.
Mathiesen wants more DWI arrests all he has to do is pull over these two bags

Ken won't let any of that tom foolery go on anymore at the Housing Authority. A good start would be to get rid of any that are related.

Does anyone know where Madigan is from? She is not a saratogian. Would be interesting to see where she crawled in from.

If Finneran is in DPW every day it because her new best friend is Donna Buckley. Are you sure it isn't those two you see drinking at Jacob & Anthoney's.

I still have no sympathy for people whining about Chris Mathieson. He has done exactly what he said he would do when he was running for office. Maybe if people actually voted once in a while things would be better. The same with Madigan. She sounded like an idiot when she was running. Now everyone is so surprised she turned out to be-surprise-an idiot. Try voting next time.

Be careful for what you ask for. Amsterdam Housing Authority just failed and residents are now living in normal apartments at the expense of HUD. Ken should do a good job. He is a people person and doesn't respond to mob mentality. On another issue why is the fire truck still following the ambulance. Six at the scene yesterday. Why the double expense and unnecessary cost of fuel and wear and tear on the fire truck not designed for short hauls day in and day out. Would have been better off underwriting SEMS to carry them over for awhile until the plan was in place. This will not cash flow. Toomany expense items left out for cost and revenue projections took a $250,000 shortfall over five years just in projected rental of the facility alone.

Mathiesan really does need to clean up the pig pen before he looks at changing the way the whole farm works. Wasn't there supposed to be some info coming about police brutality and what those knuckleheads have been up to?

Donna and Eileen have an agenda...get rid of Shauna Sutton..it's what they work on..Donna is just a means to the end for Eileen actually Eileen has told some of us in the Democratic Club how naive Donna is and how easy it will be to get rid of Scott Johnson by getting Ms. Sutton by using Donna as the vehicle...so far it's working.
