Saratoga Springs Housing Authority Board meeting 4/19/11: A new beginning?

Well the newly constituted SSHA board met for the regular April meeting with newest member former Saratoga Springs Finance Commissioner Ken Ivins in Stonequist Apartments at 11am today.
The meeting had the usual suspects present. A few of the building residents praised Housing Authority Executive Director Ed Spychalski, it had all the sincerity of a North Korean rally called to praise our “dear leader”. I fully expected someone to call on the board to make Ed Spychalski, Executive Director for life.

I got up and asked them to drop the no trespass order against me. I pointed to the American flag in the corner and asking why there wasn’t a flag salute in a public meeting of a governmental agency I went on to add freedom of speech is not a privilege but a constitutional right, and that the right to be a pain in the ass of government organizations as long as its conducted lawfully is guaranteed by the constitution and the flag that represents it in the corner.

Next city resident and Housing Authority gadfly John Kaufman spoke and I will put up that Video.

Finally a nasty rumor was put to bed that Executive Director Ed Spychalski, had been given a 3% raise again without City Council approval. It now appears that a committee has been formed to do a performance review but no word if they will be presenting his salary to the Council.

Till next time enjoy the beautiful weather

John can you or any of your contacts on the Board tell us why this Board goes into executive session at every meeting they have. Aren't there limits as to what can be discussed in exectuive session? I'm wondering if these executive sessions aren't the most interesting parts of the meeting and if they are really restrictied to discussions of items that meet the criteria of going into executive sessions. Can we count on Ivins and Calucci to make them adhere to the rules. Oh, I guess we already know we can't count on Calucci for this since he willingly participated in an illegal Board meeting already and then through some bizarre allegiance to this crowd felt he had to keep their secrets. Hopefully Ivins will have more integrity--and more balls.

Well at least chris Mathieson didn't show up to defend Ed and the Board.

The residents were told to get there at 10:30 to get seats (code: make sure you say LOTS of good things and waste the 10 minute public forum!); I call it Filibustering; it was pathetic. Once again, Eric Weller...Skyped; they lost him more than he was on! Can that count as a "present" and accounted for? I think the OUTSIDE public should get to speak first; after all, when you have company at YOUR home, don't you allow them to speak first?

Why is Johanna presiding at this meeting--she doesn't live at Stonequist--Ed saw to it that she and her dogs got a new home on Allen Drive. Why is she still on this Board?? Does this mean anybody in town can run and sit on this board?? Guess you don't have to be a resident at the Terrace or Stonquist anymore. Guess Ed must have gotten another of his famous waivers for her...

Ken Ivins will do well there on that board. Al Collucci is not too sharp and is the city hall blowhard. Time for some new stories on Nxium or skipperoo!

I have never seen Al Callucci make a statement that he was not willing to be accountable for. He has always attached his name to any comment he has made and has taken the grief from the detractors while pursuing the priorities of the SSHA and the priorities of the city. Kyle York does the same. That is integrity. The people who post annonymous statement have no balls, credibility or want to be held accountable. Until than there voices are the voices of cowards who speak softly in hidden corners and rely on non-factual material to support yheir case. They consire with anyone looking for a story and Council members as well. What a delightful caring group this is. Again we deal with the arrogant and the ignorant who criticize the people who care but never present a solution to address the issues. They just create more issues. What will be bext for this group of distorted minds???

You're absolutley right. Ken ivins will be perfect for the board despite his close realtionship with John Franck who was his only supporter in the Republican Council of last year. Neither has ever been known as a problem solver but a problem creator so they will work well together.
