We received a letter yesterday telling my wife her dental insurance through 1199SEIU was terminated May 1 2012 no reason given. It also said my dental insurance was terminated last May 1 2011. She just had a root canal Wednesday.I can only assume her health insurance is next.
I have contacted in no particular order and filed a complaint with the Department of Labor after receiving confirmation they have received all premiums from Skidmore

Your wife is a member of a union she is forced to belong to. She has/is enrolled for employee and spouse coverage and Skidmore is collecting premiums and paying them to said Union. If the union cant rectify this immediately Skidmore has to allow her to obtain insurance thru one of the other health plans offered.
Have they given any cause for the termination. I believe written notice is required but this is a union we are talking about.
If this has happened to others at Skidmore its time to consider disbanding the Union.
The waiver(s) granted to SEIU seem to be specific, not a "Blanket" waiver of all responsibilities. I'd say again that you've got some solid footing when it comes to "notification." And ANY way you look at it, 1199 is a slippery slope of dirtballs.
It's not really funny when you are being forced to postpone a necessary CAT scan recommended by your oncologist to monitor your cancer because some greedy, fat cat union bosses decided to give them selves bonuses rather than fund the health insurance you paid for. Unions! Yeah, they're really fighting for you.

If they’ve scum-bagged you to save a few shekels on their health care cost and you become terminal because of it; take a few of the bastards with you.
