Well in another blow to Public Safety Commissioner “toothy” Christian Mathiesen's empire, Saratoga Fire Department revenue for their much vaunted Ambulance service has been virtually nonexistent. With no insurance contracts in place with private companies and with no Medicare and Medicaid agreements in place the ambulance has been running for free.
No word how long the Council will continue to keep up the charade but don't expect “toothy", Anthony “Skip” Scirocco, “Mad” Madigan or John Franck to admit they made a giant mistake anytime soon. Why is it that every time the Democrats gain control of the city they immediately start acting like peyote eating lunatics?
In other news the non-profit PERMA a New York’s provider of Municipal Workers Compensation founded by failed Mayoral candidate and Saratoga Citizen founder Brent Wilkes continues to hemorrhage money.Their Annual report shows a net loss of $6.2 million for 2011.Report HERE. This after suffering a devastating operating loss of $28.5 million in FY10 that required PERMA to develop a emergency surplus recovery plan in October 2010.
At the same time the for-profit Northeast Association Management or NEAMI a company created and owned by Brent Wilkes to piggyback the non-profit PERMA raised their management fees that go to Wilkes from 6,287,641 in 2010 to 6,397,613 in 2011. That’s an extra $110,000 profit in Wilkes pocket.
Now watch him call up his good friend John Franck for another property assessment reduction. I hear a lot of that has been going around.
Wilkes lives at 5 Thames Way which he purchased for $729,900 on 9/8/2006 has had his assessment lowered by Franck to $392,700 (82% of Market Value). Not too shabby. Why is it the great liberals who want more and more government never want to pay taxes?

Well today I was at the dunkin donuts on broadway waiting for a rep to show up with some paperwork for me to sign,
the first thing I saw was a DPW truck pull in the drive thru, she did not like me looking at her through the window (shelly)this was about 1100 am,
the next event was the SSPD blazzer pulling up and waltzing in for his free coffe,a rat faced looking man....

When an accident occurs the City sends an ambulance for the injured, a fire truck for back up, and a police car for someone to direct traffic. That's a lot of personnel, a lot a vehicles and a lot of expense, Now we find out that the promise that this enterprise would generate a positive cash flow and enough revenue to keep the 6 or 7 firefighters who would have been eliminated because of an expiring grant were BIG FAT LIES.
Dr. Mathiesen, you should be ashamed and you should resign. You are a well-educated, decent man, but you allowed yourself to be duped by union goons. Bring back Commissioner Wirth, hire Empire Ambulance Service (they will actually PAY money to the City,) and let the firemen be firemen.
The experiment failed. With a 2% property tax cap the City will have to consider massive, across the board layoffs....Wait maybe if we kept the bars open until 6:00 am...........
I checked online about some of Perma's financial news you reported on. This is something you should do, but most people know you like to run down everybody except Mayor Johnson who gave your sister a job in his law firm when she couldn't get a job.

You really should check out your facts and you should also check if Wilkes’s neighbors had a decrease in assessments, you probably didn't get that far though. Second quarter report along with the end of the Safer grant will be the key. The 2013 budget will be when all this comes out and a decision will have to be made. It is almost impossible to make money on this deal but the real intent is to maintain the current staffing levels so the union can prosper. What the DPS is actually doing is creating a business to support additional emplyees who support the union who makes the net profit and not the city. In the meantime the taxpayer gets stuck with the tab. Without the VLT funds this could never happen.The game has to stop because nothing as we know is guaranteed.

As far as assessments go not everyone is a ‘friend of John or “FOJ” as I will call them from now on. Not everyone has the money to afford Accounts insider and fake attorney Diane C Young to lower their assessments a few 100k. Here's what I don't understand, if there is so much easy money sitting there to be had in Ambulances, why haven't the hospitals jumped in to grab that cash. Hospital Admins are the last people to leave a nickel on the table. These are the people who sell us $18 Tylenol.
If the money was this easy, why wouldn't the drive the meat wagons themselves. Make sure people get right to the door ASAP so they can start billing them. I bet Lunestra or Prilosec would even BUY THE AMBULANCES FOR THEM.
The city being in the ambulance business makes no sense. We need to get out of it.
The ambulance service in Saratoiga Springs is functioning very well. Response times are excellent. The firemen are getting to more fully utilize their EMT and paramedic training and the City will be receiving many thousands of dollars in reimbursement for EMS and transport services where previously there were none.

Chris the ambulance service has been running now for over 5 months. Where are the numbers? Those thousands you talk about? You have no insurance contracts in place do you? The truth is if I need an ambulance on Broadway and the SSFD show up, I’m on the hook for hundreds of dollars. Last year that wasn’t the case. My insurance had a contract with Empire and SEMS. You show uncollected revenue. You can bill all you want, you’ll never see it. Paper revenue Chris it’s not real. Maybe just maybe if you put the same energy and time into fixing this mess that you did in punishing small business’s we wouldn’t be in this mess,
