Well the dust still hasn’t settled from last Tuesday’s Saratoga Springs City Council meeting. “Toothy” Chris Mathiesen unable to force the bars of Saratoga Springs to close at 3am has now simply turned petty, vindictive, caustic, and calculating by proposing a new “tax” on bars that choose to serve alcohol till 4am. Now I will give “Toothy” some credit. You know where the man stands. He said during his campaign that he would make the cites bars kowtow to his will and he is doing just that to the point of demagoguery.But the Commissioner of Finance Michele Madigan,is a different fish. As late as Monday she was assuring local business leaders that she would vote no on Commissioner lunacies bar closing proposal but she lied. Yes Michele I just called you a liar because

If anyone wants more proof that Madigan is a snake in the grass? All one needs to examine is her other great deceit of the evening,the very controversial reappointment to the City Service commission of one Rob Mains.
Not since 1962 has any Council member appointed anyone to the City Service commission except the Mayor. Everyone knew the Mayor had no intention of reappointing the husband of Amy Durland of the Saratoga Springs Planning Board. Durland a trust fund baby and her husband are both rabid Keehnaces appointed by Val Keehn to their respected positions of power. Both of them like to pass themselves off as attorneys but neither has ever passed the bar or really had any job. Durland has been called shrill and intolerant to anyone who disagrees with her.When the Mayor questioned Madigan about her motivations or if she “had been put up to it” Madigan put on her best I didn’t know he was married with three kids expression and feigned innocence.

Saratoga Springs really does suck and is the most dysfunctional city on the planet! There's a reason I drive 20 miles out of the way to avoid going near the place.
Chris Mathieson does do exactly what he said he would do. I'm always amused that everyone is so surprised. Maybe someone should pay attention to those darn elections. Madigan is an idiot. As a registered Democrat, I am ashamed at the Saratoga Springs Democratic Party as it does not represent me. I am one of many Democrats that vote Republican locally and for Democrats nationally. These guys have no real issues to run on except for their idiocy for a change in the form of government to bring a "new" form of cronyism within Saratoga Springs.

JT I heard yesterday that Tony Fish from DPW WON his claim with CSEA against the City & Skippy regarding him being fired. The only witness that showed up for the hearing was Little Ricky (Geri's lap dog). Can you say he said, he said? Would be interesting to hear from the Fish's mouth what took place & what if anything was given to him. Maybe you can investigate?
Fishcetti won the case against scirocco he got three weeks back pay and scoopy got another black eye(no racial slur intended),funny there's nothing in the saratogian about this, especially after the way they portrayed fischcetti as a bigot..looks like they were wrong,well now that Scirocco has joined the Demowacks Party this liberal press or mess is giving one of their own a free ride.

I saw a DPW worker watering the center median grass on Union this morning. Did Skip have them plant wildflower seeds? The city looks so bare without the flower beds. And not having money in DPW's budget is ridiculous -- they can get businesses and/or citizens to sponsor the flower beds -- especially if one is right in front of their businesses or homes on Broadway and/or Union Ave.

Seems like Skippy had enough money in his budget to pay for a new reservation coordinator but apparently not enough to hire some part time people to help with the flower planting. You see having the city look wonderful and winning awards is not his main focus. He's more interested in taking one full time job & turn it into two. He's more interested in charging city residents an increase of $500 for casino rental but not the non residents.

It took four DPW workers 20 minutes to do a flower box on the directory across from UG. One was working and three were watching. Just down the street another crew of four sat for an hour smoking and having coffee waiting for a truck to show up.Doing less with more seems to be the new slogan. The Deuty position should be eliminated. There is no direction just free cosctails one night a week. As for Madigan she is on an ego trip that soon will end. Taking tips from Joanne and Billy will get her one term. The arroagnce of the ego of this bunch is sickening. 2013 can't come soon enough for maddy and the Tooth Fairy. Than they will face a real challenge. The plan is in place and the support is growing every day. All that will be left is a library card and a root canal!!!

Congress Park fenceline along Broadway has a few mangy roses, BUT HEY The Christmas Lights were on today. That must make up for everything.
Some bone head drove his truck across the grass between Spit and Spat and the carousel and just left the muddy ruts. If I had been on a job and did that I'd be looking for a rake and shovel to fix it immediately.

John, if you speak to some of the bar owners, they will tell you that we brought up the idea of having the very late night establishments help out with police overtime costs last January. There is nothing new here and it is something that we are continuing to explore.
The Public Safety Department requires that organizations having events in our City that involve additional manpower reimburse our department for these costs. It is hard to understand how it is fair that taxpayers who are sound asleep at 3:00AM must continue to fund late night police crowd control on Caroline Street.
