Metropolitan Opera officials admit attendance is down this
season and they acknowledge that the fault is their own. They made going to the
opera too expensive. Peter Gelb, the general manager of the MET said average
cost of admission will be lowered by 10 percent.
He also said ticket prices will begin at $25 {where I sit}
and the Met will continue its rush-ticket and free open-rehearsal programs.
Attendance this season averaged, 81 percent of capacity,
compared with 84 percent last season. Ticket revenue is projected to be $4
million less than last season's $94.4 million. So the MET gets it, raising
ticket prices is a disaster. It not only hurts attendance but kills the bottom
line. People who know me know how much I love the opera. I try to make it to
the MET a couple times a year. Tomorrow I’m going to Crossgates Mall for a MET high-definition
simulcast theater broadcasts of Wagner's PARSIFAL. I believe that opera is the
highest achievement of the human voice. I applaud Peter Gelb, who quickly recognized
the mistake he made last year in raising prices.
That brings me to Marcia White, President & Executive
Director of SPAC.The 300k nurse who announced earlier this year that all tickets
at SPAC will go up by a dollar for a new “service charge” She also cut the
discount for member’s rush tickets from an already lousy 25% to 20%. SPAC has
half the member’s it did even 5 years ago when White drastically cut the benefit
from 50% to 25%.This current 5% reduction is just petty

that shows the city making 0 interest loans to the water department. I also
watch with interest the water deal with Wilton.
In truth I’m afraid that both of these events are only
legitimate campaign issues. Perhaps Skippy is more vulnerable this year than
ever before. The problem is the only person who has expressed any interest in
running against Skippy is Billy McTygue. Billy through has is nose stuck so far
up Mayoral wannabe Joanne Yepsen ass, he has lost interest in running. He seems
to believe that these “scandals” will force Skippy’s resignation and or his imprisonment.
Ain’t gonna happen Billy. Skippy will
run unopposed and the city will be cursed with another two year of dirt and
decay, all because you have grandiose plans of what? I have no fucking idea. So
I guess you’ll be sitting in the peanut gallery for a few more years screaming
at the council like a democratic version of the “Spitten Colonel” David Bronner
until we all turn even more gray.

The McTygues can't touch this issue of no interest loans. As reported $1.4 million of this came during their regime. $400,000 came during Skippy's. The question is how far back does this go, who created this ridiculous program with no plan in place for repaying the dollars. The other question is where were these dollars applied and how do you find the documentation.Using our current auditor doesn't cut it he hasn't found this issue over the years. A forensic auditor should be brought in from the outside who has done no business with the city and can give a unbiased accounting. These are $1.8 million of taxpayer money. This could be criminal.

10:22 - Possibly Skippy should have brought it up when taking office. Than he used it himself with obviously the approval of the then Finance Commissioner. This has to go back several years. All I'm saying that taxpayer dollars were misappropriated by not only one Finance Commissioner but possibly several. Those are cleally the facts. They are indisputable If the facts stated By Commissioner Madigan are correct as stated $1.4 million of the $1.8 million was loaned ove the previous years prior to Skip's tour of duty. Realize two wrongs don't make a right but there are several people involved here and it is taxpayer money that is involved that possibly could have reduced the amount of layoffs and created some of the problems at Public Safety with staffing we have now. Is that simple enough for you to understand or do you need a tutor to take you by the hand and explain it point by point.
